Today I had so much planned during August’s nap time, I was going to go through my clothes to donate what I don’t need/wear, unload and reload the dishwasher and then start a new book. Well nap time is here and I’m pretty sure I’m going to lay next to August and take a nap too. #tiredmama
TINY HOUSE TOUR — part 4, the hypothetical living room corner. This is not really our living room, there is not one in the tiny house! But it's a cozy spot by the window and the ottoman is the newest addition to our little home. The ottoman actually folds out into an almost twin size bed for our oldest son (who recently grew out of the sleeping loft overhead). Previous to this is was a bit of a nothing spot as it's kind of an awkward corner — I think when setting out on something like living tiny we tend to think incredibly practical as a way of survival but even before we moved here I made a pile of "special things" as we were packing. Things that were not at all practical yet give a sense of home, of atmosphere, of us. And that's important to me in making a home comfortable and cozy, that feels like mama. I'm very much a homebody, even in a tiny house. — a few more details in my comments & I'll also be posting a quick video and more in my stories!
“There’s nowhere you can be that isn’t where you’re meant to be.” - John Lennon
Right now, I am exactly where I need to be: snuggling on the sofa with a warming parsnip, hazelnut & sage soup and homemade sourdough. A large glass of wine and some Beatles in the background. Because after 4 days alone with my two spirited children whilst recovering from a cold, that is all I need! ———————————-
Re-set on Monday for a full on week. Have a wonderful week friends and may your Sunday bring you the energy you need to tackle it. .
Washington wine tasting @chateaustemichelle. 🍷 Making friends as an adult 3000 miles away from home is hard, but today I spent with three smart, creative, and KIND women and I’m finally feeling like I am where I’m supposed to be. More from today (including feeding PEACOCKS) on my story ✨
Day 315 of 365...there's no possible way to rush thr healing process. Take as much time as you need to ensure that you are fully healed and, more importantly, that you don't suffer a relapse. Take it slow...and come back as a better version of you!
It’s true. I can’t sit still. I need to keep busy. My need to keep my hands busy means I never stop. Then there’s a point when my body will force a stop. I never learn.
There’s so much in life to do and discover. So my Sunday I’m not going to do anything meant...Yeah I’ll build my @flowhive (amongst other ‘need to do’ jobs)
Feel pretty pleased with my handy work! gosh aren’t they handsome!!
"Conscious fun takes effort. This seeming paradox--Why should fun be work?--stops us in our tracks. So we overindulge in effortless fun (scrolling through Instagram posts about dinner parties), and underindulge in effortful fun (throwing a dinner party ourselves). But 'although minutes spent in boredom or anxiety pass slowly,' writes [philosopher Robert] Grudin, 'they nonetheless add up to years which are void of memory.'
It is the effortful fun that makes today different, and makes today land in memory. You don't say 'where did the time go?' when you remember where the time went." -pg. 74-75.
My favorite thing by Laura Vanderkam thus far. Sometimes I find her work off-putting because I am not her target market, but her premises are always interesting. This is a great culmination of her work thus far and it was worth the time to read and think about.
It was so risky and so scary, and yet at the same time, so beautiful. Maybe the truth was, it shouldn't be easy to be amazing. Then everything would be. It's the things you fight for and struggle with before earning that have the greatest worth. When something's difficult to come by, you'll do that much more to make sure it's even harder -if not impossible- to lose.
