Last night I had the pleasure of attending a launch soiree at The Rest for a new High West Distillery endeavor: Western Standard Saloon Lager. Yep, High West has gotten into the beer biz.
And it makes sense. You see, High West has a lot of bourbon barrels on their hands. So, why not age beer in them? That’s precisely what Western Standard is: the first barrel-aged lager produced as a session beer.
Happy #nationalpastaday guys. This craving is brought to you by @copperkitchen. 🍽
I actually don’t eat a lot of pasta (and of course not rn whilst I’m doing keto) but I get this question a lot, so help me out — what’s your fave Italian place here in Utah? 🇮🇹
8 rice flour (or tapioca flour) spring roll wrappers
Approx. 2 ounces of rice vermicelli or bean thread noodles (very thin)
½ lb. cooked crab meat such as blue crab, Dungeness, snow crab, etc.
1 carrot, peeled and shredded or cut into thin strips
3 scallions, cut lengthwise into thin strips
1 small head of lettuce such as Bibb, Romaine or Iceberg, leaves julienned
Fresh basil leafs – I prefer Thai Holy Basil but any fresh basil or mint will do
Thin-sliced Thai peppers (optional)
Head to our website for how to prepare.
TUESDAY TIP! Halloween, and the holiday season are just around the corner. It can be challenging to stay grounded and balanced amid all the activity, sugary foods, travel, shopping, family time, etc
One great way to stay balanced and clear when you’re stressed and/or out of your normal routine, is: incorporate more ginger and turmeric into your diet 🤗❤️ Ginger is a powerful digestive aid and helps soothe the nervous and respiratory systems. It's wonderful for stress relief and stomach issues and it provides a soothing, warming, nourishing energy to the system. Turmeric is incredibly anti-inflammatory and can help you stay sharp, move through brain fog or fatigue. A great way to incorporate these roots is to make golden milk!
Chop fresh turmeric and ginger into small pieces, cover with water and bring to a boil on the stove. Once the water boils let sit for about 20 minutes until the tea is strong in color, smell and taste. Then you can dilute the tea to taste with hot water or warmed mylk, add honey or maple syrup, and a little cinnamon + cardamom + anise! Mmmm, so good!

Bambara’s silky corn bisque 🤤
Throughout the years and during the reigns of various Bambara chefs, the silky corn bisque is one of few dishes that’s remained a staple since the restaurant’s inception. Under the watchful eyes of executive sous chef Jerry Pacheco, the bisque remains cemented on the menu as a stand-out among the establishment’s many stellar offerings. The smooth and creamy corn bisque—passed through a sieve to achieve its impeccably refined texture—is made with carrots, peppers, chicken stock and sherry, and carries a savory, mild heat that’s perfectly complemented by the lump Jonah crab on top. The Gamberetti salad ($15.95), for example, is a large plate filled to the brim with mixed greens and seasonal fruit (strawberries, raspberries and blueberries, currently), yellow and red cherry tomatoes, artichoke hearts, red onion, Feta cheese, and strewn with grilled Gulf shrimp. This is one very satisfying salad.
I have some new followers here so I wanted to post a little about me! My name is Katie, and I live in Salt Lake City, Utah. I have been married to my wonderful husband for 6 years, and we have 3 beautiful babies. Maddox is 4, Mila is 18 months, and Ronan is 1 month. I started this instagram mainly as a foodie page! I currently work as a restaurant consultant and LOVE trying new places. Some of my favorite things include cooking, wine, spending time with my family, exploring the outdoors, planning and traveling. My idea of a solid evening includes: takeout, and catching up on “Better Call Saul” with my husband and a glass of wine when the kiddies are in bed. My main goal using this Instagram is to talk about some of my favorite places, share my favorite products, and possibly incorporate a little more. I will never post a negative review of a restaurant or product on my page. If you want my personal opinion on somewhere, please DM me. I’m still on maternity leave, but I plan on posting more often soon! If you got this far, I would love your opinions on what you would like to see me post more of? This is still a new page, and I love feedback. Feel free to comment here, or DM me! ❤️
The world’s VERY FIRST KFC franchise is right here in Salt Lake City where you can still grab yourself some delicious chicken! Located at 3890 S. State Street in Murray, UT. A life-size bronze Colonel stands with Pete Harman, who opened the first KFC franchise on this spot in 1952. Indoor displays pay tribute to their fateful partnership.
My favorite pasta offering at Caffe Molise is Pappardelle al Sugo ($14.95). It’s a plate of fresh, thick pappardelle pasta made in-house, tossed in a hearty, robust, slowly-simmered sauce of beef and pork with tomatoes, then topped with grated Asiago cheese and julienned basil. The sauce is so rich and robust that there are large morsels of pork and beef to be found, like meaty treasures hidden within those luscious pappardelle noodles. 🍝 🍴 😋
Each fall, Saffron Valley celebrates Indian cuisine from the north and south of India with its annual Biryani & Kebab Festival. It’s a terrific opportunity to sample some dishes that might not appear on the regular Saffron Valley restaurant menus. The festival features, as you might have guessed, kebabs and biryani. Have you ever attended this event?
