All this #midwest snow has me missing these perfect #colorado views.
This hike was tough and I nearly got blown over while trying to snap this shot. I only took about 4 photos at the top because of the gale force winds 😳 but this is definitely a hike I will never forget #worthit#skypond#faceyourfears
It’s Sunday Funday, my favorite night of the week! This week’s Challenge is to personalize a @blingsasssparkle blank shield. Check out other versions by my very talented friends : @hess.embroidery , @southernstitcheddesigns , and @denicebowen .
Only 9 minutes away from my house, but it feels like another world. This shield reflects so many of my favorite things about Sky Pond Camp: kayaks, Cypress trees, thistles, cattails, dragonflies, and Great Blue Herons. Random fact: Did you know a group of Great Blue Herons is called a scattering, sedge, or siege?
Swipe left to see another photo of pillow and one of my favorite Sky Pond pics.
When they say strenuous, they aren’t kidding 😯 the last half a mile of this hike turned into an ice climb/rock climb/parkour but we made it! 😅💪🏼 9.5 miles round trip and over 2,500 ft elevation gain. ⛰ #skypond#lakeglass @rockynps
I may have hiked 14 miles, scaled a few rock walls, faced death a few times, thought about turning back, and praised God immensely when I made it safely back down to the bottom - but the view at the top was SO worth it! #SkyPond#GlassLake#RockyMoutainHigh
#tbt to the last hike of the 2017 season. With how fast time has been flying, I already feel like winter is right around the corner. Really not trying to miss a single weekend in the mountains this summer except this weekend where I’ll be metropolitan for a a couple days. Going to watch 3 ball games @thecoorsfield this weekend Rockies v. Diamondbacks. I’m curious to see how it goes. AZ is bringing that heat lately (literally and figuratively). Also helping out with my university’s commencement ceremony and shooting graduation again this year. It’s not my photographic forte but I found out that 2 images from last year were included in published advertisements. But next week I have a pretty sweet weekend planned. Southern Colorado needs some love.

As the snow melts away, it’s time to start beefing up the iTunes library, get more gear, and research new photo techniques. The weekly road trips are going to start up again soon. #vroomvroom

Raising the entrance fee to Rocky Mountain National Park from $25 to $70 is a joke. I guess that's just more incentive to get up early and get there before the ticket booth is open, because then it's free.

Several people asked me if I wore shorts on this hike, which I find hilarious because clearly I'm a freak for doing it. I have to say that while I maintained 2 jacket layering on my upper body throughout the snowy morning , my legs never got cold. Just gotta keep movin'. That is until the clouds finally break at sunrise, then I had to stop and snap this shot. (That lake in the very back is only the half way mark between Alberta Falls and Sky Pond.)

Went up to Rocky Mountain National Park to catch a glimpse of a natural alpine lake that I've only occasionally heard mentioned over my 4 year tenure in Colorado. We started the hike up to Sky Pond around 5:30 am with headlamps and expected a nice warm clear day. Mother Nature had other plans for us today and we got the chance to experience some of the first snow of the season. After scrambling up a waterfall (not once, but twice because I almost bitched out the first time) we finally made it to a VERY windy backbowl, and the beauty was all 100% worth it. Another Colorado Bucket List item off the list. Added bonus was getting to RMNP early enough so we got in fo' freeeeee!
