has created this stunning piece of art in charcoal *Here are some tips for beginner charcoal artists*
1. Charcoal smears -
This is a blessing and a curse. If you can’t avoid resting your hand on the page while drawing, tape the paper to a wall and draw vertically instead. Keep a rough cloth handy to wipe your hands to avoid charcoal marks on canvas in unwanted areas
2. Use fixatives on the go-
Fixatives reduce the amount of smudging to your image while also allowing you to continue drawing. If you can’t get your hands on some fixative spray, most hair sprays will also work.
3. Another way is to cover an entire page in charcoal and “draw” with an eraser.

The one thing you have that nobody else has is you. Your voice, your mind, your story, your vision. So write and draw and build and play and dance and live as only you can. The moment that you feel that just possibly you are walking down the street naked…that’s the moment you may be starting to get it right. - Neil Gaiman, Make good art. #neilgaiman#makegoodart#charcoal#charcoalsketch#sketch#myart#author#sketch_sharing#sketch_daily#sketch_dailies#sketchnetwork#101kportraitcontest#thecreativevariable
