The ill-fated Orient airways plane that crashed in Skardu in 1950. Brigadier Aslam Khan, who built the resort, bought it for Rs. 150 and had it moved, using hundreds of men, bullock carts and horses, to its present lovcation, in an attempt to create a real 'Shangri-la' from James Hilton's famous novel, 'Lost Horizon'
Today any bakery worth its salt will offer nimco, but these are all imitations of the real deal. The original nimco-makers are located off Bohri Bazaar’s, Saddar, #Karachi with a storefront that snobbishly declares that they have no branches in Karachi. This store was opened in the 1950s after Haji Muhammad Jan migrated from New Delhi to Pakistan in 1948. ❤

Chaqchan Mosque is located in Khaplu, a town in Ghanche district. It dates back to 14th century which marks the advent of Islam in this area. The word Chaqchan means 'court_where decisions are made'. The architect of the mosque is quite interesting. One has to climb the stairs to enter the mosque. After taking off my sandals at the stairs, I stepped my foot inside the balcony of the mosque which was very old yet lavish. We all gathered inside the single room it had where an imam was going to tell us about the mosque. While he was telling the history and other prominent facts about the mosque, I was staring at the walls and the ceiling with my mouth agape; I just find it really amazing that the tiles, the shapes and the patterns were so well in place. The colors were so rich and appealing that nobody could keep their eyes off them 🤩.
The Imam told us that the mosque was build over a Buddhist temple. The temple was not demolished thats why stairs are there to get to the mosque. He also told us that many prominent politicians have visited this place and prayed for their success in life.
I also found a corner to sit alone and talk to my Creator in private. It didnt felt like a prayer rather a conversation..... He was there, answering me; watching over me ☺. This experience, I never had it before.
