At home @gamesylla and I play a lot of different kind of games. Yesterday we played two new #rollandwrite games. Therefor a ‘double feature: First #ganzschönclever from designer #wolfgangwarsch (published by #schmidtspiele ). This game is maybe the first real roll and write enigine building we played. Six dice, in six colors, a lot of calculating, connections to make and rows or squares to be filled. Why engine building? When filling up your own player-form (which is divided in 5 different squares and rows and colors) the moment you fill up a box with underneath it a tiny icon, this icon can grant you to take another action on another part of your form. By doing so that first bonus action may allow you to take another bonus action in another square or row etc! Enigne building. Great fun, easy to learn, quick game but also pretty tactical,
Oke and then our first game of the serie #pennypapersadventures There are 3 of them and we played #valleyofwiraqocha from designer #henrikermarrec (published by #sitdowngames ) We are explorers and looking for long lost cities and their treasures. Gameplay: 3 dice, from numbers 1 tot 6 or the images of Penny Pager, Dakota Smith or a snake. The outcome of the roll is for all players. You can use all the dice separately or add up the outcome, but no more than 3 boxes can be filled with a number on your form during a turn. By connecting 3 to 6 boxes you can claim forests, cities, mountains or pyramids. Is the snake visible than players take each other forms and draw a snake next to an already placed number. At the end of the game any visible snake will cost you points equal to the number(s) next to a snake. Use Penny to remove a snake or choose any number from 1-15. Is Mr Smith visible you can draw 1 of the 3 available bonus icons next to your claims. Each icon only to be used once. The game ends when one player has completely filled up its form. And then it will be scoring points. It is a fun game with a lot of drawing (the form I think is a bit too small)! So ‘Ganz schon Clever’ for a more tactical game and PennyPapers for the whole family.
Oh and about dice: Don’t we just love to roll them bones!
Magic Maze follows the idea of the Escape cooperative real time labyrinth exploration game and elevates it to the next level. It comes with 18 scenarios (difficulty levels). We proudly failed even the easiest one by keep forgetting about the timer 😅😂 And, and you cannot speak during the game so the only way of communication is bumping in the table in front of other player with huge red piece of wood (or empty beer bottle in my case 😁). 👍You get so much game in so short time (one session is about 5-10 minutes) 👍No alpha player problem due to lack of communication and time, which is usual issue of the coop games
👍Brilliant and noisy 🔨 communication mechanism 😁
👍No downsides, really 😜
@sitdown_games Magic Maze should come with a warning about table damage!
In Magic Maze you work as a team to manoeuvre a group of explorers through a shopping mall to steal some loot and get out before the time runs out. There are two big catches:
1. Each player controls a particular movement and can move any character but only in that specific way.
2. You are in complete silence 😶
This is where the table damage comes in. You are given a big red pawn that you can use to “kindly” remind a player that they need to take an action that they cannot see. To do this “delicately” place the pawn in front of that player.
This translates to slam the pawn in front of someone while your head turns into a beetroot as they look at you perplexed.
This game is a lot of fun, it’s so different to many co-ops. It is very much like a puzzle, it requires an extreme level of team work. Silence means that no one can dominate the game, when you pull off the heist you will feel in sync with everyone that you played with. 💰💰💰
Had a real time weekend this week⏱We love real time games where you have to stop and think but you also have to hurry so the timer doesn’t run out, but if you stress too much you can’t think enough to make the best decisions. We find Millennium blades and Kitchen Rush as almost being ”real time Euro games”, which we really enjoy!
#agameaday2018 Day 44: Sushi Dice! Simple dice roller where you try to collect a set matching one of the available sushi platters. Not a lot of restrictions, some mechanics add to the competition, but we didn’t use them because the way we were sitting wasn’t conducive to checking each other’s rolls. No strategy here; just roll and go. Great for youngsters old enough to not put the small dice in their mouths. Also good to play between larger, heavier games if you are looking for a relaxing. Plus, it comes with a cool bell!

Magic Maze! A group of broke adventurers who need to pillage supplies from the local mall. How hard could it be, right? It took us FOUR TRIES to win. The best part was watching everyone’s expressions as we tried to will each other to move without talking! 🤣
