A lot of yoga philosophy talks about how your shoulders down to your hands are an extension of your heart- you use them to hug, to touch, to make connections with other people. More on that and how it ties in to strength and flexibility next week 💕
in TriBeCa all of next week but look out for more times in Westchester soon!!
First inversions in 4 weeks!!! 🎉🎉🎉 I had a follow up with my ENT yesterday and he said is looking good post-surgery, after the little infection setback! He keeps asking if I’m headstanding yet so I figured I should give it a go ... it’s a bit weak and wobbly but it feels good! So good I tried out pincha and handstand after my practice 😆 I am amazed at much I can BREATHE in these positions post-surgery. My head just feels ... light. I am feeling really grateful to have had this surgery - and to have this practice 💖💖💖
@opheviasingapore loving the leggings 🥰

Sometimes our days don’t go the way we would like them to go or as we planned them. This morning I taught a grounding practice and I felt great, this afternoon my day took a spin and I needed to help my energy come into balance. Going upside down not only helps me when I feel this way but also gives me the energy that i need to continue my day. Sirsasana is my favorite inversion, it is invigorating and supports our digestive and respiratory systems. It has taken me years and years of practice to feel comfortable to do it away from the wall. My fear has disappeared. I would say my fear disappeared when I felt my core and arms stronger. Be careful practicing this asana if you have high blood pressure, glaucoma or neck injuries. And as you are going up DO NOT KICK your legs up. Avoid bouncing on your head.#sirsasana#headstand#increaseenergy#yogaeverydamnday#selfcare#winter#iwanttoparty#homesick
I’ve been finding myself focusing on things my body can no longer do lately. I feel like I’ve had to give up a lot recently due to health issues and have had a hard time keeping myself out of depressive and anxious thoughts. Today I woke up and decided to focus on the things my body CAN do, and I am feeling so grateful for this vessel. I’ve gotten out of the habit of daily asana, and I know that is a huge contributor to the lack of peace I have been feeling. After practicing today, I feel more grounded and optimistic than I have in weeks. So if you haven’t already today, hop on your mat and move around for a while. Even a few minutes. It definitely won’t make you feel worse 🧘🏻♀️

I’m blown away by @cathymadeoyoga’s inversions. She can do headstands, handstands & forearm stands in a variety of shapes and in any environment or temperature for that matter. She’s super fun and we laugh so much when we have our shoots! It’s nice because we work together so often we became friends and really understand each other. Behind the photography, developing such friendships makes this type of work so special.

| REMEMBERING GURUJI |
Today would have been BKS Iyengar’s 100th birthday and celebrations are going on around the world, the heart of which is this gathering of some 1300 students practicing under the guidance of the Iyengar family in India.
When you practice a dog pose in your living room, when you turn up to class and lay back into supta baddha konasana or virasana, when you struggle with an injury and use a prop to modify your pose, or when you feel the exhilaration of doing more than you thought you could in a backbend, know that you are part of a huge family of travellers along the same path, following the light that Guruji shone and is passed down through a lineage of teachers, mentors and their students. And that is pretty special.
Many thanks to the photographer @shaelmsharma who has captured the spirit of this gathering so beautifully!
Lovely Friday is almost here!
My journey of around 1800 kilometers is slowly approaching and it's going to be amazing to be back home again. ❤️
After a short night in Hamburg with @finee1997 and @hh_snk, I took a train to Berlin. This would be my second time to visit the city.
I was in Berlin years ago with my old band @unchainedbreathing and the night was awesome. Besides that, I've only heard wild stories.
To paint the picture: Pellworm (where I used to live), is a small island of around 37 square kilometers and with about 1200 people.
Don't forget the lovely 3000 sheep though. 🐑
It's quiet during the winter months and somewhat bustling in summer; but it's absolutely beautiful. 🌳
There is a lot of nature, not so many cars, you have the North Sea all around you and thousands of stars above you to glance at night (all the street lights go off at 00:00).✨
Then I arrived at Platz der Luftbrucke. Cars, cyclists, cops, ambulances EVERYWHERE. It was unbelievable after 2,5 years of peace and quite.
Don't get me wrong, I know what cities are like and I've visited them often enough. So I get the general picture.
But to be standing there, thinking to myself; "this is going to be home for a while", I first had to sit down and let that sink in. It felt like my brain was overstimulated in a way.
More on this tomorrow!
I want to thank everyone for the amazing responce to yesterday's video. 🙏❤️
I wish you a blessed evening and may you be recharged to be your wonderful Self tomorrow. 🌃
“All your seasick sailors, they are rowing home
All your reindeer armies, are all going home
The lover who just walked out your door
Has taken all his blankets from the floor
The carpet, too, is moving under you
And it's all over now, baby blue”
Day 1 #yogidecembertidings is yogis choice and self introduction
I am preparing for #karandavasana in this vid. It is so far out of reach for me, but I like to start early working towards goals and preparing muscle memory.
I am an inversion addict and working day and night on my handstand and handstand press 😂. I am so inspired by Instagram and all the yoga goddesses 🙌. I now have this long wish list for next year, which is all Instagram inspired. Transitions are on the top list and move lightly in and out of poses. I am 32 and just sharing my journey on here. I am loving the community on here and would never have thought to build sth. Like friendships on here.
I am all in in this challenge cuz I think some posts without handstands on my feed are good 😋 and cuz of the hosts:
