Four seasons of looking at it every single day I have been up on the mountain (minus some insane whiteout days) dreaming how one day I would love to ski it. *
Yesterday was that day.
The climb up was great fun, and the ski down was anything but great fun - the shittiest snow I have encountered in my 1.5 year skiing career made me swore more than the most bad-mouthed pirate does when losing all his rum in the card game. But despite all my extensive swearing in four different languages when skiing down and all my nervous chitchat and giggles when downclimbing unroped on an exposed section with only one wonky crampon on after the other one completely broke down - it was 110% worth it! *
And I mean it. We expected it to be survival skiing kind of snow and although next time I do want to ski it with some good snow (and the memories of today's descend is going to make me enjoy it all the more), yesterday was all about having a good little mission - and that we sure did! *
Single Cone to Grand Couloir ✔
Finally! Got to ski down from Single Cone on Saturday. Not the top top, but close enough xD This is the line we took down to Alta sadle. And beautiful fresh pow pow on the Sunday at the remarkables ski area. POW! #mountains#skiing#remarkables#singlecone#powpow
Throwback Thursday! *
I used to be a snowboarder.
That is how my ski season life started 3 years ago in The Remarkables. Took me 3 weeks of spending more time on my ass than on the board and I thought I'd never learn to ride - I was hopeless (even my instructor told me so when I later on in the season ran into him in a bar and he was all alcohol-honest) - until one day it just clicked. Before I knew it I was hiking out of boundaries all the time and chasing untouched snow and fun lines - even when I screwed my shoulder 2 weeks before the end of the season and couldn't move the damn thing. I just could not get enough - and I still can't get enough of being on the snow in the mountains. *
And I still think there is nothing like riding powder... So once I get good enough on the planks, I will allow myself to ride more again.
Why choose one out of two incredible things when you can be greedy and have both!?
