Write this one over 20 years ago as a heartbroken 20 something young man...At one point it was recorded by Aaron Soul who grew up with Craig David in Southampton...the recording was also produced by Mark Hill of the Artful Dodger...
Indecently the song was also written on the same council estate where Craig grew up as I lived there all through the 90s...
Anyhow enough of all the name dropping 😉I'm thinking of resurrecting it as all those years in between writing it seem to have given it an authenticity and atmosphere that can only come from living life...
🚨 power couple alert 🚨 Darren and Sarah (American names) are both from Korea and met in Louisville at an internship and went to the open mic I played at last night AND Darren played a super cute Korean song AND they asked me if I needed a place to stay AND WE DRANK BEER AND JIM BEAM AND PLAYED GUITAR ALL NIGHT — like seriously, why am I so lucky?? #powercouple#openmic#louisville#lucky#songwriter#singersongwriter#love
“Don’t Fish in My Sea” (pt3) Good Morning everyone. So I’ve gotten a lot of positive feedback on my more bluesy side. Most notably my phrasing and vocal delivery. But so far, I’ve been posting either pop music I’ve turned into blues or they’ve been blues rock songs. So here’s some true blues. At almost 100 years old, it is perhaps the most painful of all of the songs in the #marainey catalogue. Once, just a name in a college textbook, Ma Rainey, has become one of my favorite voices. Not because of her technique but because of her passion and emotion she packs into each syllable. Her music may sound dated these days, but it’s still a must listen for any music fan, especially if you like the blues... or if you have the blues
I love writing short songs. Sometimes a verse and sometimes only a chorus. What I love about these "short songs" is that they almost write themselves. For example... if I'm walking outside and suddenly see a jumping parrot, I hear a song about a jumping parrot inside my head, just like radio. To me it's like my ear's taking a photo of that moment. The grammar isn't always perfect but hey it's art. To be honest I really went back and forth deciding whether I should post this or not. The fear of everyone hating it (amongst million of other things). I know I wasn't given the greatest voice, if I tried out for american idol, they would totally crush me and probably tell me to stop singing for the rest of my life haha! But as I wrote it's art. And just like with everything else it doesn't have to be perfect. Nothing is perfect. One man's trash is another man's treasure. Never let anyone tell you what to do. Do what you love and always listen to yourself. I will never get thousands of listeners but if I can get 10 people in this world that would appriciate what I do, or even just 1 person (mom not included), that would keep me enough motivated. Thanks for listening!
