The first Rose Watermelon cake that I have ever tasted was in Hong Kong. I can never forget the taste of that unique cake, which I thought was not possibly found in Singapore.
Blessed to be able to enjoy my food experiences, I was thrilled when I found this wonderful baker who made this beautiful cake for my Mum’s 67th Birthday.
She has got the answers for that same amazing texture and the taste that I have been missing.
Many like me would wonder how watermelon will go well in a cake, wouldn’t the cake be soaked through or turned soggy? Nah... You will be in for a pleasant taste surprise if you have the same thought as me! 😆
Fresh watermelon slice in between layers of soft sponge, rose-scented cream and cake topped with fresh strawberries and strewn with edible dried rose petals.
A refreshing and light cake to round off our heavy seafood dinner tonight!
Huge thanks to Yvonne @cquasg for her creation of this extraordinary cake. (Ps. Did not expect the restaurant’s idea to a Xmas themed platter went so color coordinated with the birthday cake ! 😆)
Congratulations to the lucky winner!

Mom’s 67th Birthday feast tonight !
A seafood loving family and we found ourselves celebrating over Cajun style seafood instead of our usual local seafood fare. Interestingly, we still get to enjoy our favourite local black pepper crabs here too! 😆. Dancing crab did their black pepper crabs very well too! 😋
It was heartwarming and yet fun to be sitting together, eating with our hands on da messy table, no table manners required here, just finger licking good! 🤗
Had the opportunity to savour Indian vegetarian food at the cozy restaurant @bikanervalasg and we began with the starter Raj Kachori, a fried sphere shaped bowl filled with the likes of potatoes, black gram sprout, tamarind sauce, mint sauce, yoghurt and sprinkled with chaat masala. Served chilled, it is both appetising and refreshing and will prepare the palate for the upcoming mains
The Chhole Bhature is my favourite which I can dip the bhature (fried bread made of soft wheat flour) in the tantalizing spicy chickpeas. There was a fusion dish to cater to the Chinese customers consisting of fried vegetable noodles cooked oriental style paired with garlicky vegetable manchurian

This posture took a long time to come for me. Uttihita Hasta Padangustasana, or Extended hand to big toe pose necessitates hamstring flexibility, quad strength and awareness of the standing foot. In addition, to avoid rounding the spine the shoulder joint needs to retract back in to the socket, the pulling action helps keep you balanced. Whilst this pose comes easily these days, gazing in the opposite direction from the extended leg still challenges me greatly and I have to work hard not to fall.
Tai O Jumbo Big Big Fishball (HKD7) captured our attention with the giant pots they were bathing in, as well as the aroma of curry that they were perfuming in the air.
Served on a skewer stick, the fishball had a lava-red coating of curry that I was not expecting much from but was totally wrong to do so. For the bubbling curry that the fishball had been immersed in had actually been hiding a punch which it released unassumingly after I had been eating it for a while.
So strong and pungent the curry was that I choked on it a couple of times. The spice it possessed was satisfyingly good and the fish paste itself was deliciously fresh and juicy.
Awak awak kalau makan sambal awak suka yang macam mana 🤔
Kalau i kan i suka yang pedas garing tau. Kalau melancong, sambal ni lah penyelamat tekak dan selera i di sana fuhhh. Pasal ada certain tempat takde sos. Susah nau nak telan
Makan bersama maggie boleh. Bersama nasi impit boleh. Nasi goreng pun boleh tau. Apalagi masa travel beli je nasi yang vacuum pack contoh nya then taruk je semangkuk sambal garing. Penambah selera dalam semua makanan

It was an honour for me to witness five chefs from five different cuisines demonstrating the brilliance of Singapore’s gastronomic scene at @novotelstevens where they showcased what @worldgourmetsummit has been doing best in its 22 years of running.
Voting starts now all the way till January.
Thank you for having me.
