2006: Silicon Gel-Filled Implants Given Approval by FDA
After over a decade out in the cold, silicon was allowed back into breast implants in 2006 — but in a new form. The FDA, after years of study and experiments, finally allowed silicone gel-filled implants onto the U.S. market.
Today's silicone gel is designed to feel a bit like human fat: it's very thick, very sticky, and classified as "semi-solid". It's actually the fifth generation of silicon implant and there were various innovations, including more secure coatings, thicker gels and more natural shapes, along the way.

Make sure you are 100% honest about your health and medical history. This way your surgeon can be totally informed and make the best plan of action, without compromising your well-being. #implantfacts#boobietalk
Regrann from @halliejordanbauer - I should have posted this yesterday before my recovery to show you the ugly truth but I honestly was too ashamed. After an hour and a half long explant by my surgeon, he feels very confident that he was able to remove the entire capsule that had created itself around my implants. Capsules are our body’s natural response to shield itself from the outer casing of the foreign implant. When your implants are left in too long, those capsules can almost calcify completely around the implant. In my case, the implants were so big and the capsules were so soft that the capsule and scar tissue broke up into several pieces that my doctor had to basically fish out. I hate this but I’m confident he was able to remove it all. Although there was no actual rupture we do feel like my body has been fighting off infection for years because of the toxic bags I was determined to have put in BECAUSE I NEEDED TO LOOK PERFECT. . The next Image shows my implants cleaned up with their pieces of scattered scar tissue holding and taking on the outside silicone lining my body has been telling me it didn’t like nor need. Before you think about getting implants please research ALL the very real complications that affect many of us. I truly believe their are many more #breastimplantillness cases out there. Don’t be afraid to talk to someone if you have any symptoms. You could literally save your health just by listening to your body. #raisingawareness#breastimplantillness#breastimplants#health#journeytowellness#support#youarebeautiful#selflove#hardlessontolearn#day2 - #regrann
Regrann from @adventure_babe_423 - 🚫Breast Implant Illness 🚫. This sickness is so real. So many doctors told me it wasn’t… I was not informed of the potential side effects and risks when having breast implants put into my body… It’s nowhere in the paperwork. In the words of a plastic surgeon “well, it hasn’t been scientifically proven yet“ but here we are, hundreds of thousands of women who are, or have been sick... deathly sick, because of the toxicity that these bags of chemicals have flooded our body with. I have personally lived this nightmare… So I’m here to warn other women that are contemplating having implants put in or have already had them and feel “off“. Love yourself! Nothing in this world is more important than your health and happiness. If you have any questions or need support feel free to DM me. Swipe -> for info ✨✨✨✨ - #regrann
Regrann from @your.self.love.sister - Before and After!😰
So the photo on the left, I took on the morning of my surgery!
Then the photo on the right I took just this morning 2 days after my surgery!😳
These photos are not edited - at all!!
I always used to get asked why my skin was yellow!!
I remember when I’d have laser hair removal appointments and the cosmetic nurses would literally turn me away because they legitimately thought I had fake tan on!! They thought I was lying to them!! But I assure you, I never had fake tan on😭
Not only was my skin always yellow, but I knew for a FACT that my liver was no longer working as well as it should have been. I stopped being able to digest fats, I started gaining so much sudden weight despite eating well and exercising daily!
I’m not a drinker, a smoker, or anything like that, yet my skin was always getting worse - jaundice in fact!
Even my GP thought I had Hepatitis B until I got my bloods done to disprove that worry☹️
Since having Explant surgery, it’s as if the whites in my eyes have become whiter, and my skin has slowly become less yellow and normal again.🙌
When my sister and I made and saw this comparison photo, we were both in shock!!! Like what the actual heck haha! Who would’ve thought there’d be such a HUGE difference in such a short amount of time!!😱
It really does make you think twice about the toxic implants that were in my body.
I just want to encourage and make it known to all women out there that no ‘aesthetics’ will ever be worth your health. Especially when it’s this evident❤️
After all of this...
I’ve realise that implants were not the answer to my issues. I’ve also realised that I was so so sooo much happier without them!
If you’re thinking about getting implants girls, please please please do your research first.
I truly believe that they are not healthy for us, especially in the long run. Just love yourself for who you are!!
There’s no one else like you - you are not a copy so own it❤️
I’m so thankful to finally be on the road to recovery and to already be seeing some positive results after 2 days of explanting!!!
Regrann from @the_lchf_lifestyle: I had someone say to me that it’s only a small group of women who are affected by #breastimplantillness & I wanted to speak to that today.
I think what people need to understand is that Breast Implant Illness is not medically recognized which means there are a lot more women who have yet to be properly diagnosed because we don’t get diagnosed by our doctors when we’re constantly in & out of their rooms trying to find answers to why we’re sick. .
In the 7-years of trying to find out what was going on with my body not one of those doctors ask me if I had a foreign object in my body or if I had breast implants because it’s not even on their radar. .
Instead when they couldn’t find any answers for me they offered me antidepressants implying my health issues were psychological
The only way we can be diagnosed is via self diagnosis. Then we have to trust our instincts with no guarantee it will help & invest thousands of dollars (my surgery was $17k) to get them out without any relief from health insurance because the explant procedure is considered cosmetic... not a necessity like it should be because it 100% healed me. .
And then the other piece of the equation is that because it’s not medically recognized when it comes to healing our bodies we have no support, protocol or guidelines. .
We are literally on our own in our community trying to figure it out! .
The truth is I didn’t have a cold this week... I’m positive I had a flare up! .
So WTF is a flare up... it’s a term we #biisurvivor use to explain when our symptoms just return & your bodies are full of pain & fatigue again. .
Here’s the thing we don’t really know why they happen other than it’s the healing process or how long we can expect this to keep happening for. .
So because we’re forced to self diagnose swipe 👈👈👈 for the symptoms. If you have implants and feel healthy this isn’t intended for you... you’re one of the lucky ones. This is for all the implanted women out there who are constantly unwell & searching for answers. .
Maybe after more women are diagnosed this will become medically recognized & then ALL women will be immediately diagnosed ❤
It’s been about a year since I came across an article on Facebook that would change my life! An article that spoke of BII (Breast Implant Illness), something that had once been mentioned to me but it never sank in. I became obsessed with research about breast implants, augmentation, silicone toxicity, EXPLANT, plastic surgery in general! I knew after only a few weeks that the toxic bags that had been sitting in close proximity to precious organs for the last 10 years had to go! I booked my consults in Dallas, found a doctor that didn’t think I was crazy, continued my research and scheduled my explant surgery for October, only a few short months after starting my full blown research. It was the only surgery I’ve ever been completely overjoyed about and could not get here fast enough! I still to this day cannot find the EXACT article that came across my newsfeed. #Godsent I’ve always said that God has to be very direct and blunt with me because I’m no good at “reading signs”. 😂 I guess an article on FB was the way to reach me and I’m so thankful! #Godisgood I’ll continue to share my story, my journey for FOREVER, hoping I can reach those that need to be reached! 😍 @breast_implant_illness
SMILING PATIENTS IN RECOVERY: Love our patients for the 24 hour recovery breast augmentation from all over the world!!! Repost @ksyshkagolomidova
Thank you doctor Khan and your team. My dream come true. Now I feel myself more a woman, than ever before. #breastaugmentation#plasticsurgery#dallasplasticsurgery#khanplasticsurgery#happymoments
( Link in @essentially.rose.hhmc 's bio for the news segment that Global News in Toronto did on her story ) Rose is just one of the tens of thousands of amazing & strong ladies that are deathly ill from these toxic poison bags. Shortly after getting implants last June, she had fallen ill from them. She, like many women so far, have since explanted and are feeling for the most part better but are still dealing with residual effects from them. If you're thinking about getting them or in the process, I'd urge you to reconsider and do your research about them. They're just not worth the risks associated with them. No one should have to go through what @essentially.rose.hhmc and the other amazing/strong ladies are currently going through. If you have them and may be feeling ill w/ unexplained symptoms, there's a good chance it could be BII. For that there's also a Facebook support groups, "Breast Implant Illness and Healing by Nicole," w/ almost 50k women helping each other out through this too. 😔😢😭😔😢😭 @breast_implant_illness
