Called to Care Moment of the Day – This employee commendation comes from Captain John Tuck of LACoFD. “I am writing you this e-mail to make mention of the great work by Meghan Kennedy and Chris Kozicki on Care Unit #3607 this morning here in the City of Signal Hill.
Eng 60 responded to a working apartment house fire early this morning. Upon our arrival we encountered heavy fire and smoke coming from a second story bedroom; during our search and rescue operations fire teams found an elderly patient in the bathroom who was not able to exit the unit due to poor health and probable smoke inhalation.
Fire crews took the victim outside and met with the crew from Care 3607.
The outstanding effort and quality treatment given by your team and the Paramedics from Squad 45 gave the victim a fighting chance, it was relayed to me at scene that pulses were restored by the time they reached LBM but due to his age, prior health history and burns sustained in the fire he is currently in grave condition.
Having been a Captain for over 19 years it has always been a pleasure working with various Care crews but when a crew goes above and beyond working for the best outcome possible in a bad situation I feel some recognition should be given” Capt. Tuck, we couldn’t agree more!! Meghan and Chris do an incredible job we can’t thank them enough for always doing their best in trying situations.
