Yet another Simplicity Session done and wow, there were too many pics once again to try and narrow down. @yankepics
This family was yet again super sweet and the kids were sooooooooooo cooperative and happy. What a treat it was to meet all of you and your magazine worthy family.
Cheesy-smiling-at-the-camera pic, but I love it because we’re all in the frame. This past week we took the boys to our favorite place for the very first time... Bar Harbor, Maine. I grew up going there every summer, and it was a joy to be able to share this special place with our boys. They loved it!
After 5 days on the road we finally made it to Cape Breton. I didn't know if I'd edit any pics while on vacation but after that much time in a confined space with the kids I needed something to decompress. Here are a few images of my son enjoying the motel pool at our stopover in Rivière-du-Loups. 😅
Travelling that long with four young kids is as crazy as you may expect. There's a lot of unplanned stops, a lot of outcries over the lack of more junk food or the movie selection. And to think our parents survived road trips without DVD players built into the vehicles!
But there's also been a lot of amazing moments. I actually spied my boys holding hands completely voluntarily today. 💗
We've been on the road for the past 5 days, slowly making our way from Ottawa to Cape Breton stopping frequently to enjoy the sights and tastes of Atlantic Canada (and what seems like E V E R Y Timmies washroom along the way!) And despite having forgotten his lovey back in Fredricton, this guy is handling it all pretty well. Bedtimes are rougher than usual - he's often past the point of no retun once we all finally turn in after a long day of sightseeing and requires extra cuddles to settle. Otherwise he's happy to go with the flow. ⠀
But while stuffing ourselves on the hotel breakfast buffet this morning he calmly asked, 'we go home now Mommy?' And it hit me - despite my husband and I talking about this trip for months, his two-year-old brain doesn't really comprehend what's happening. I couldn't help but think about all those little kids out there who have been displaced - whether it be an abusive or unsafe home or a war-torn country. And how difficult it would be for those parents to explain to their kids that they can't go home. It all made me incredibly grateful for the safety and security we often take for granted. As well as gratitude that we can travel freely and enjoy the vastness and diversity of this country. 🇨🇦⠀
One of our stops yesterday was to visit Pier 21 in Halifax. Witnessing the real-life stories of folks who did leave their homes behind to start a new life in Canada was truly powerful. I couldn't be more proud of this beautiful country we get to call home. 🏠
