Welcome to the #ImperialPalace#EastGardens . A part of the inner #palace and open to the public here in #Tokyo , #Japan . This former fortified area of #Edo Castle's innermost circles including #Honmaru and #Ninomaru were a pleasure to stroll, #Moat , #Foliage and #history . Remaining of the structure are some defensive buildings, guard stations and gardens. The #Tower I stand in front of was the only one left after the 1657 fire burnt down the main residence (and the city). The #Shogun took this as his home and enjoyed the views of Mt. Fuji... Which is covered by skyscrapers further out. This area was the home of the #Tokugawa#Shogunate who ruled from 1603 to 1867. #Emperor#Meiji also resided here from 1868 to 1888 before moving to the newly constructed residence on these lands 😉
Beautiful view of the Kinkaku-Ji! We visited by for its historical value. It was built in the last 14th century as a place for retirement for shogun Yoshimitsu Ashikaga! It reminds of Japan's era of the shogunate. Unfortunately, this isnt the original building as it was burned down in 1955.
Little Empress Asuka
Asuka is the young empress of the Fuyu clan. Her sister Kaiyo, the shogun, fights on the battlefield to keep her in power. While Kaiyo is away from the empress, she is guarded day and night by magic bells to keep her safe. They trail behind her as she moves, ringing in the presence of danger. A good way way to keep track of her when she goes sneaking out on her own.
#TodayIs the #FeastDay of Martyred Dominicans of the Far East
#Today (Nov 6) the Dominican Order commemorates the beatified #martyrs of #Japan whom nothing could separate from the love of Christ, and who confessed the faith in the 17th Century to the shedding of their blood for Christ. They were all tortured to death by the #Tokugawa#Shogunate who were persecuting #Christians in #FeudalJapan . #JapaneseHistory
Between 1614 and 1632, there arose a huge army of martyrs, among whom was Alfonsus Navarette (d. 1617), Angelo Orsucci and Luis Frarjin (d. 1622) along with another nine Spanish Friars and about a hundred local martyrs, including novices, co-operator brothers, tertiaries and members of the Confraternity of the Most Holy Rosary.
They were all beatified by Pius IX in 1867.
WIP 50%, First basic sketch and lowpoly of this warrior, (can ignore the hair because it is not ready yet) 😅, full made in zbrush, the next step will be to add details such as wrinkles, reliefs, pose, etc. It is inspired by the original concept and art of Servane Altermatt, I am doing it for real-time rendering and videogames, for the "Feudal Japan The Shogunate" contest by Artstation. I hope you like it.
Primeras formas Básicas y lowpoly de la guerrera, inspirada en el concepto y arte original de Servane Altermatt, para el concurso de Artstation. Espero les guste!
"His fate was written in blood, his nation established upon the pained souls of the deceased." Surprise, I submitted my very first Anime Boston art contest entry this year!! The theme is Tales of the Shogunate so I made a brooding man who is channeling some hardcore inner Hanzo. >__>
I'm finally able to share now that the entries have been posted and happy to announce that I won a guaranteed table for next year's con!!!! I'm SOOOOO excited to finally return to AB after not getting in for the past few years. Hope to see some of you there!!!! 🤩
