Anyone draw a moose tag this year? It's at the top of our bucket list. We ran across this Shiras moose bull, cow and calf in Idaho while we were elk hunting a few years back and we were lucky enough to film them at about 50 yards. ⠀
Backstraps for days! 😍
Don't do what I did on this hunt. This all happened after work on my way to moose camp. I had decided to leave my backpack at the four wheeler and hike to a nice little glassing spot I had spent a lot of time on. My plan was to try to glass some moose up, put them to bed and come up with a game plan for the morning. Before I even sat down at my spot, this guy caught my eye. He was over 1000 yards away. I changed plans and decided to try to get on him that night. I took off running towards him with only my rifle, knife and tag in my pocket. I made it 300 yards away and watched him trying to decide if he was the one or not. He was. ❤️ Once I walked up on him I realized I had no backpack, camera, no mess dress kit, basically nothing. 😂 It made for an interesting night though. I will cherish the memories from the night forever. . . .
Couldn’t be more proud of this dude right here! He found a match set of paddles this morning. We were hiking down a new drainage we had never been in before with the wind at our back, I stopped on a high rise knoll to glass the open pockets between the Willows and when I finished I turned to find he was no where to be seen so I called for Zeus and 20 seconds later I couldn’t believe my eyes as I watched him come running around this willow with the paddle dragging along side him from up the hill! Then the search was on and we began scouring every inch for the other side and sure enough with the wind in his favor he took off on a trot and went around the bend in the creek and as I came around the corner he was trying to pick up the second side. #mydoghasmorepaddlesthenme#shedhunting#coloradosheds#publicland#coloradomoose#shirasmoose
OH HOW I LOVE THE MOOSE HERE IN COLORADO.... Colorado’s Shiras moose (Alces alces shirasi) are Colorado’s largest big game animal with adults weighing 800 to 1,200 pounds. Bulls stand up to 6 feet at the shoulder.

Shiras Moose in southern Idaho several years ago. We were on a mule deer hunt when we came across this awesome animals. Some of the best things about traveling on hunts are the things you seen and experience along the way. #sc2outdoors#getoutthere#shirasmoose
