From the beginning of this month we decided to do a little running in the evening, just a couple of days per week. Our thought patterns are intricately intertwined with our experiences and our actions. They all feed in to one another. Our thought processes shape our actions which then influence the experiences that we have, these experiences then feed back into our thought processes, either reinforcing them, or allowing us to alter them in line with the experience.

Our thoughts influence our actions, which lead us to experiences, which then alter our thinking. It’s a cycle that we aren’t going to change, and it’s a cycle that we don’t want to change. It allows us to evolve as people and as societies. The problem occurs when we get stuck in a cycle for too long without change, we stick with what we are doing because it seems like what we’ve always done, and what we’ve been told we should always do. Our thought patterns have been reinforced to keep us taking the same actions, which lead to the same experiences, which reinforce our thoughts. I’ve been there before and I didn’t like it. However it’s only with hindsight that I realise that I was stuck in this loop, and that I really didn’t like it. At the time it felt normal to me, much like what I do now feels normal to me.

For most people, these evolutions occur much more gradually. It slowly dawned on me that I was stuck in this cycle, but to start with I couldn’t do anything about it. My actions and experiences were the same, which kept my thought processes the same. Thankfully I managed to keep up uncomfortable questions about who I was. This slight shift in the questions I was asking myself shifted my thinking slightly. From this I was able to take a slightly different action from the one I took last time. This led me to a slightly different experience that then fed back into my slightly altered thought patterns. It’s a process that slowly shifted things to the point where I was able to change my thought patterns enough to allow me to take bigger different actions which have led to some  pretty awesome different experiences

We are all human, which means sometimes we focus on the past and wonder why things didn’t turn out differently or what we could have done to possibly change the outcome...but if things were supposed to have been, then they would have. It’s time to let go of the past, release any demons that may be holding you back and focus on the present and how to shift your energy to vibrate so high that you attract only positivity and good things. When you choose new doors to open and focus on how to live your best life now, how to be a leader for leaders, then you will never have to wonder what could have been or what should have been. Leave the old ways behind. Keep those doors closed and only walk forward with your head held high through new ones 💫.

Achieving balance has been tough this week. Between working really long hours, social engagements, and fighting off a cold, I have been crashing most nights instead of making it to yoga or dance. I know I needed the rest, but I don’t like living that way and am excited to get a couple hours in at the studio today. 👯 .

Just curious... do you wake up before your kids? Or let your kids wake you? I'm not naturally a morning person. I've never been one to wake up before my alarm clock ⏰. In fact, I'm the girl who hits snooze twice before getting out of bed. But I will tell you that mornings are my favorite time (once I'm out of bed 😉). I'm refreshed, my mind is clear, I enjoy quiet time with my cup of coffee before the craziness of the day starts. #TBT ! In just a few days I will be doing #yoga on this exact beach and I cannot wait!! I have been going to #KeyWest since I was a kid (I don't remeber how old I was, but I remeber REM's Stand was a new song just out, so that gives you some reference of how long ago it was!), and a few years ago my parents decided to officially make it our second home and bought a house there. 🏡🌴 I feel very blessed that I have this island getaway, and for the first time ever, I will be there alone. I am a huge fan and advocate of solo travel, there's just something so special about it. Have you ever taken a solo trip? What was your favorite part about it? I would love to hear great solo travel stories! 
My first alone trip was in the summer of 2000, when I moved to Paris for the summer to study French. I met so many people, traveled all over Europe, and vowed to go back again as soon as I finished school (which I did! I moved back to Paris for a year a few months after graduating). Ever since then, I've pushed myself to do my own thing and not to miss an adventure or, in this case, some much needed down time, just because no one could go with me. In fact, in some cases I prefer it and don't even ask anyone! Haha. It has made me a much stronger person and I'm greatful for that. 💖

In the spirit of #adventure, I'm going to do a couple things I've never done or haven't done in a long time on this trip. It should be fun, but most of all, relaxing. While preparing the program for the upcoming MoveLab Pro preseason surf training, I wanted to take an unorthodox, inquisitive and exploratory approach. To go there in training, I arrived at a new perspective on my 35 years of surfing. Surfing has been described in many ways, from past time to lifestyle to art and sport. I believe it's all of that and then some. However from here on out, I'm choosing to see it as a personal practice. Through that lens, my lifetime of surf has been my teacher and companion. My performance level has fluctuated throughout the years due to a host of factors, but the sum total of practice has paid off. Hence, every session, even the shitty ones, was time well spent. This my friends is what I want you to remember when you come to train this fall and at some point you say to yourself , "what the hell am I doing?...this is weird...I suck at this...I'm not going to admit it, but I'm kinda' scared...this is fun!" Workout completed 12 hrs after I had planned for it to be, but it is completed. 
Not so long ago waking up late would have been all the excuse I needed not to do it done at all.

I find that faith and detachment are the key and a knowing that you are worthy to receive.

Today, I practice patience, opening to what is, and taking it one step at a time. For me this looks like taking it slow, putting in the work, but letting it be at my own pace..

Working from home sounds amazing, but when you are trying to make breakfast and answer emails at the same time your boundaries can be blurred and your energy can quickly be drained.

I used to be a burnt out mess, wanting to help everyone at all hours of the day. There were no boundaries between work and home life.

One strategy I've found helpful is taking time to preform little rituals between work and home activities.

In the morning, my activity of choice is walking. I walk to clear my head and shift from morning home routines to work ideas and actions.

On my walks I wear minimal shoes (or sometimes no shoes) so I can connect with the earth. Each stone gives my foot a reflexology session. Feeling the earth helps to ground me and gets me out of my head. It also feels amazing on my feet!

Rather than have each day be an endless array of tasks, try small rituals between activities to center and shift your energy.
