Q where is your favourite place in the world? Apart from the Lake District, I think mine would have to be Iceland with its extreme environment and constantly changing weather.

QOTD: WHAT BOOKS ARE YOU READING/ HAVE READ THIS MONTH?? I'm nearly finished with Unearthed and it's amazing! Amie and Megan really nailed the Indiana Jones x Guardians of The Galaxy plot and feel of the novel 😊😥
Today for #augustbookstagram18 the prompt was...introduce yourself. So tell me something interesting about you and I’ll leave a few random facts about me below!
WHO IS XENATINE?
(If you want to see what a Xenatine looks like, swipe for a peek of me emerging from my secret room)
☠️ I have a secret room hidden behind a bookcase in my bedroom. It’s where I write!
☠️ I studied fine art in college and was a graphic designer for many years.
☠️ My middle name is Renee and I had the hardest time remembering how to spell it when I was a kid.
☠️ I have the filthiest mouth of anyone you have ever met. I also have a weakness for inappropriate humor.
☠️ I can’t resist Cinderella retellings.
☠️ I married a man named Johnny. I have a son named Johnny the 4th. My brother is also a Johnny the 4th. My dad, my father-in-law, my grandfather, my grandfather-in-law, and my great-grandfather are all Johns. Basically half the males I’m related to are named Johnny. Makes thing easy.
☠️ My IG handle Xenatine comes from my obsession with Xena Warrior Princess and my nickname...Tine.
Your turn...tell me about you!
Thank you to @penguinteen and @penguinrandomhouse for these gorgeous books in the An Ember in the Ashes series.

I covered @the.wing and @renttherunway’s new employee benefit policies for @forbes today. Moral of the story: These female founders are paving the way for workplace equality for their own employees and, in doing so, will inspire corporations of all sizes to treat all employees fairly. As NYC Deputy Mayor for Housing and Economic Development Alicia Glen said of The Wing’s new policy: “This is what happens when you put women in charge.” 🙏🏻 #Forbes#TheWing#RentTheRunway // Photo via @the.wing
#AskDrSchultz Skincare tip reminder: Even those who use skincare DAILY may be misusing the order of sunscreen application in their AM routine!
Remember that sunscreen should be applied BEFORE your day moisturizer, not AFTER. While many people are almost certain that sunscreen should be applied last in a skincare routine so that it is the layer closest to the sun, Dr. Schultz teaches us that sunscreen must be applied closest to the skin for it to properly work and protect your skin from UV rays. ☀️
🇺🇸So I’ve been using AHA/BHA for years and for the past few years I skipped on mechanical exfoliation but oh lord, when this little guy arrived as a sample with my recent @sephora I had to purchase it ASAP. It’s a spa in a tube with warming effect and volcanic sand. Totally worth it

My forever obsession: Skin care 🖤
So you guys know we came to Philadelphia with the intention of staying one night and that somehow turned into 6 weeks? We had packed literally nothing, which is fine for James because he has everything already here, but for Vivienne and I that has meant some major stocking up! I’m not complaining though because this girl loves to go hunting AKA: shopping. When it came to my skin care products I grabbed a few favourites that I already use back in LA (I am in love with @farmacybeauty ) but I also tried some new goodies @herbivorebotanicals @glowrecipe 💋 I also just grabbed these @slipsilkpillowcase hair ties that keep my hair damage free (you know I have put in way too much work to damage these long locks now) Let’s just say I am happy with making Philly feel more like home 💍🙏🏽🖤
A Street Cat Named Bob by James Bowen. 4.5/5
I thought this was such a cute nonfiction book. I love heartwarming stories like this one. I definitely recommend this book to anyone. He isn’t a very experienced writer, but he still made a great book!
This book was about a heroine addict. He was living on the streets some weeks. Other weeks he had an apartment. Some weeks he had to stay with “friends.” He wanted to change his life around, but just couldn’t. Eventually, he saw this cat. This cat snuck into his apartment building and rummaged around the neighborhood. Bob was a pretty beat up cat, so James gave him a meal. Then, James gave the cat a few more meals, and James began to really like this cat. This cat was really the turning point in his life. With the help of a his new loyal companion and a friend, he was able to turn his life around. Bob was a major help. He especially attracted more people to James while James played guitar on the street. Very heartwarming story. There is also a second book to this called The World According to Bob
After the drenching from harsh wintry elements, rich mineral poems cultivate bleak minds with Flora’s seeds of self valuing nourishment; blossoming mass flowers of carefreeness flourishing rhythmically below a horizon, where the sun radiates beauty to wake the day for meadows to be prowle and indulge by fauna.
Wanderlust within the psyche to mediate amongst fields of flowers reflecting qualities of oneself. Every factor of a flower mimics every factor of us. From the sprouting out of a seed, to growing our stems, opening our petals as we open our eyes to the world. We give to the world, as bees receive pollen.
Growth has many directions to spread, just like roots, outreach to many places within to learn yourself, extend deep to find your own place to begin your growth. We all start at a low place in life, but where you connect your roots and direction of your growth is solely on you #writersofinstagram#writersofig#amwriting#amediting#authorlife#bookish#novel#readmore#shelfie#bookstagram#booktastic#amreading
Who said bookshelves are just for books? We’re loving gen-z yellow this season, so consider introducing a pop of color into a room with a decorative piece. It adds style & brings contrast without disrupting the energy of the space.
I know “spring cleaning” is a thing! But what about “end-of-summer cleaning”? Pretty sure with the amount of sand that gets tracked into our house during June and July, we could build our own beach!
We’ll save the cleaning for later! Let’s keep celebrating summer! Check out the link in our bio to win a box of our Coastal Breeze paper goods! (Pictured in last post!) #coastalliving 📷 by @melissagriffinphotography
