The pleasure @liftingpinsandneedles took in her Quadra Jeans project and the inspiring hashtags she has shared have me smiling today! Here’s what she had to say about her experience:
Last spam with one of my most satisfying sewing achievements. My hubby’s #quadrajeans by @threadtheorydesigns . He’s at present wearing them in and I’m giving them plenty of washes to soften them up. This might become an obsession now 😂. You can see the modifications I made to them on the highlights (stories) and the deets on my vlog. #sewmanpants has been amazing as a motivator to try new things. It’s been super fun! You have another day to post your make still 😊. #sewingchallenge#sewingmenswear#sewingmensjeans#sewingformen#sewingforhubby
Tutorial on mending socks with holes^ for the winter ☃️❄️ don’t want no toes getting cold in the snow 😂
"One winter wearing a crummy pair of boots and now ALL my very $$$ @smartwool socks have holes in the same place 😱 BUT fret not! Now is the time to pull out all those woolies tucked away since winter - socks, sweaters, mittens and hats - and spruce them up for Fall 🍂
Darning a hole is surprisingly simple! Essentially you are using yarn to weave new fabric wear the old has worn away. Swipe left for our simple step-by-step tutorial on how to earn a BIG hole in your sock! If you’d like to mend a hole in something without a heel - like a sweater or hat - the process is the same, you just don’t need the apple/orange/darning egg because that is really only used for holding the shape of a heel. If you are mending a fingertip in a mitten or globe, use a smaller finger-like tool - perhaps the wide end of a carrot? - to hold the glove-finger’s shape while you mend the hole
Often mending feels daunting because there never seems to be time to fit it in - there always seems to be something more important to do. But we find it helpful to tuck a mending project in a bag when we are in the go so we can pull it out in a lull - riding the bus or train, waiting in line, waiting for our food at a restaurant. There are so many moments, out and about and at home when a few rows of stitches can be added to a mending project and soon enough all the holes will be filled and things are ready for action again 🍂

Day 14 #bpsewvember Everyday
This is one of about 10 of the same H&M RTW t-shirts that I basically live in day-to-day. I do own different colours but it is the exact same fit, same design and same weight jersey.
I need to transfer the design to pattern paper and start making my own as many of these are starting to wear out. Struggling to find the right kind of jersey though - lightweight, thin, drapey, and not much stretch - any recommendations lovely IG peeps in my phone?
Here are all the deets on the “Holiday Party Outfits Challenge”. 💃🏻 Calling ALL my fellow thrifters! I made a small change to include those who aren’t sew-ers. ✂️
I know how busy this time of year can be so I broke the challenge up into two parts with plenty of time to prep! That way, you can join in on one or both, depending on your schedule. 😊
Part 1 will be a semi-formal look (think Christmas party), which will run from now until Nov. 30th.🎄
Part 2 will be formal (think New Years Eve), which will run from Dec 4nd to Dec 21nd. 🎉
Follow these steps to partake in Part 1 of the challenge:
**For non-sewers, curate an outfit using ONLY thrifted clothing (accessories optional).
**For sewers, source your fabrics ONLY from the thrift stores. Sewing patterns can be used but I encourage you to make it your own.
**For everyone, follow me, share sneak peeks and tag me so I can see them. Lastly, post a photo of you styled in your fancy thrifted holiday look by Nov 30th, with the hashtag #thriftedglowup .
THAT’S IT! I will select and feature 4 LOOKS on Dec 1st, so join in on the fun and let’s get those creative juices flowing! 🙌 Are you in? If so, are you a sew-er or non-sewer? .
Let me know in the comments below and TAG someone you know would love to participate! ✨
Sewcialists, how do you feel about eco friendly, reusable gift wrapping? I just made a batch for my holiday gift list, but was wondering what opinions are out there! Do you think it is worth it? Let me know in the comments below!
#bpsewvember day 8: (catching up) Supporters. I think these are my tribe around me, my family, friends, other creatives and some people who like to buy my creations and say nice things about my creations and it makes me feel proud of my work.#supporters
Let’s end the year in style! 💃🏻Over the course of the next few weeks, I’ll be creating two holiday party outfits using ONLY thrifted materials ✂️ You can do one or both looks and sewing patterns can be used. More details to follow. Let me know in the comments below if you’d like to join! ✨
Day 12 #bpsewvember Essentials
Not one but two magnetic pin cushions and I'm tempted to get a third... I currently use one wherever I'm pinning stuff (kitchen table, my bed, the floor, etc) and leave the other by my machine for when I remove the pins. And although this system should work in principle, there have been times where neither of them are in the place they should be and I've popped them down somewhere random (quite often in the bathroom or by the kettle and only once inside the fridge...🙈😂) Also as great as these are, if you have one or are tempted by one, DO NOT DROP THEM on the floor. Not that I ever have... 🙄
Happy 1 year anniversary to the perfect basic tee. A year ago, I made my first garment and it is still one of my most worn pieces.
A lot has happened in a year with some wins and some fails, both in sewing and in life, and the growth outweighs the fails. Thank you for following along on IG!
