Day one of my mini birthday trip in Boulder, just got acupuncture (and set under heat lamps like a snek 😌🐍) and now it’s time for dinner and a movie!
Thank you @seaminglyvintage for my Pendleton ❤️
What are your weekend plans?
Friday Fun! Today I got to meet the one and only @mimigstyle and @norrisdantaford 💕 Thank you for stopping by the @kalimo_usa showroom and being so kind to us 😊 As you can see from the pic I was extremely excited to meet them 🤣
The bodice is almost complete ✨✨✨
I am hesitating on the skirt portion because of my dislike of gathers. It is partially sewn and lined but there is a gnawing at me that if I do the gathers, I will HATE them and then have to rip everything out and start from scratch. Only, there is no more of this fabric. You can feel my dilemma. .
For now, I will put it away and give some thought on how to make it work ( Viva Tim Gunn!) to suit my vision and style!
There is nothing worse than spending time, money and FABRIC and then hating the result! Even if the pattern and fabric were bought at the thrift shop for $2 TOTAL 🤑
Soooooooo...what would you do?
Gathers or no gathers? .
I will have a poll in my stories and would be thrilled if you would help a gal out ❤️
#flashback Friday to the 1st ever #mommyandme outfit made by me. Could someone please do me a favor and photoshop that bra strap out of the pic 🙄. They always show up at the wrong moment lol 👙. I have another mommy and me outfit that I just photographed and illness sharing that on the blog soon!

"Oh, hello! I feel like I’m coming out of hibernation, much like these little chaps (except they’ve been showing their pretty faces in the garden since July! That’s the middle of winter here FYI, lovely to see in one sense, a bit worrying in another...)
I’ve probably missed out on quite a few things during my couple of months hiatus from Instagram (sorry if you’ve tagged me & I haven’t seen it!), I’ve been sick, so it was very much needed. I do have a few things bubbling away in the background though & they’ll be ready to show you soon 🤗 Hint: new pattern coming at the start of September 😉
Until then, I need to clear out my instagram PM box 🙈 and start taking some more photos of all the spring blossoms in the garden 🌸 💕"

Longwinded wedding dress update:
Most importantly, I have to say that it really warms my heart that so many of you have been following along on my wedding dress journey and have reached out to show your support. I was overwhelmed with messages yesterday, and I’ve read each of your sweet, uplifting notes! I’m trying to respond to them one by one, but it’s taking time. Just know that I’m thankful for every one of you who took the time to reach out.
I figured it would make sense to share my sketches and design process. I’m not the best sketcher in the world, but here is my OG sketch in the first pic. I was hoping to cover the entire skirt in rosettes, large and small. I also originally planned a circle skirt or something with similar volume, but ended up with a very slight tulip skirt instead, thinking that would mitigate some of the problems with volume around my waist.
The second shot is my muslin and my trial run for the rosette. I just roughly cut the fabric for this rosette with a rotary cutter. I tried to copy the measurements for the computer file we used for the laser cutter, but I was too large the first time and accidentally overcompensated for the second. And this is what some of you even suggested I do— make looser rosettes. Looking at this photo of my muslin makes me a little sad because it makes me realize that if I had kept the same dimensions, this idea would have worked out 💯I mean, the way that muslin rosette lays is just perfect, adding volume to the hips but not the waist.
Third pic is my crazy-tight rosette experiment, for those who missed my stories. There were some suggestions about moving the rosettes, which would be impossible - the little ones take 10-15 min per, and they’re sewn directly on.
Some of you suggested I go try on wedding gowns to see how they work with my body-type— but I already did this several months ago, and that’s where I found out that this plunging neckline suits me really well (and found this dress on photo 4 that I loved). However— I just felt like this basic circle tulle skirt was too plain, and I wanted something dramatic and couturier. Continued in comments...
Did a bit of a purge this week. These are eye books I kept. I love collecting sewing and pattern making books, but rarely read them. How about you? My favorite book is the pattern making book on the top left- and the only one I've used extensively ✂️✂️. Are you a reader 🤓, or more of a watch on YouTube and go kinda person? ✂️👗📱📺
A friend asked me to help mend some shorts. This was the only hole in the front, so I figured make it fun and do something I’ve never done. Turned out pretty well. I made the patch out of an old, irreparable pair. The peace sign was a fun challenge.
Four more days to enter your dress in the #hinterlandsewoff ! I've loved seeing all of your creations pop up. Your pattern hack game is strong! Swipe to see some great interpretations. (And props to my friend @soveryshannon for sewing dresses to go with her handknit shawls. 😍)
