To evoke the emotions where visitors can ‘live in the past’, I felt that bringing the Gas engines out from under the ground and on to the surface of the valve yard would symbolise how once something was covered and left in the past is bought out and reawaken the engine that once roared and moved Cambridge’s sewage. The valves placed around the engines perfectly, may make visitors more interested of the space and allow them
to ask what the valves are.
The valve yard consists of a grass area holding 10 valves on the surface. The valves were once used to control the flow of water and sewage around the pumping station (Underneath is a whole network of tubes), which ran water, and sewage directly to gas holding tanks or even the sewage farm at Milton. .
Department of Civil Engineering, ABES Engineering College has taken 22 students on Industrial Visit to 56 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant based on Sequential Batch Reactor (SBR) Technique at Crossings Republik, Dundahera,Ghaziabad operated by NKG Infrastructure on 17th September 2018
Students learned about various unit operations and techniques involved in the treatment of waste water generated from crossing republik and its disposal.

Only 3% of the world’s water is suitable for the human use. About 2% of that amount found in ice caps and glaciers. Further, millions tons of sewage is discharged into water bodies and near about two million children under 5 years of age die due to waterborne illnesses. The situation has reached an alarming level. As a consequence, wastewater treatment plant design projects have become an utmost priority in every country.
Due to the scarcity of usable water, the requirement of the wastewater treatment system is essential. This is a kind of technology that receives, stores, treats and disposes waste water from residences (washing machines, sinks, baths, other domestic water), Industries and municipality.

In part due to the global sanitation crisis, half a million children under 5 die from diarrhea annually. Even in the megacities of rapidly developing India, 70% of sewage is dumped into the environment untreated. 🇮🇳 But over a dozen cities in India, along with cities across the developing world, are turning away from Western-style sewer systems (which involve vast networks of piping to a centralized treatment plant), and instead opting for decentralized systems involving trucks that transport poo and pee to systems like septic tanks and latrine pits that use far less water. 💩💦 Thanks for the insight, @amine, that’s super interesting.
