Day 22 of #KapotasanaRules was our peak pose #Kapotasana . I was able to do a rough version of it pretty quickly after starting to practice yoga, but as I’ve always been a little afraid for my back in this deep bend, I haven’t practiced it much since I started about 2 years ago (I think I took a picture every time I did - which now makes it 9 times total 😆). Which means there hasn’t been much progress. This time, honestly I was wondering if I’d even get it at all as my back feels like a wooden plank since starting to heavily focus on handstand 😅. Imagine my surprise when my second kapo did not look that bad! 🤗 And the difference from try 1 to 2 (a difference of about 2 minutes!) is really obvious.
Aaand in comparison with February 2017 it seems like there’s more of a bend in my upper back, doesn’t it? 🤔 Even though I didn’t even have my blocks or wheel to help open it up 😎. The hips look lower though. So interesting! Now I’m stoked to work on kapo again 😉.

Yoksa ters durmuşsun,geriye bükülmüşsün,öne katlanmışsın çok bi önemi yok nasıl göründüğünün. Önemli olan sen pratik ettikçe içerde nelerin değiştiği,nelerin daha görünür olduğu. Yoga senin her anında. Sadece yaptığın pozlarda değil; her farkındalıkla aldığın nefesinde adımında var olmakta.
Hayatta ne yaşıyorsan ,neyin içinden geçiyorsan bil ki o senin için oluyor. Değişim ve dönüşümün için ...kullan onu.
Yaklaşık 3ay belki daha fazla fiziksel pratiğime ara vereceğim bir sürecin içine giriyorum ancak içsel pratiğim devam edecek. Benim için çok daha içeriye dönme vakti sanırım. Her deneyim ,olup biten her şey bizim için. Ya şikayet edip mutsuz olursun ya da olanı kabul edip yolun tadını çıkartırsın. Essa postura segue sendo uma grande professora: me ensinando a ter paciência, humildade e confiança (amém).
O ângulo encontrado não foi o mesmo, porém senti chegar até ela com “menos sofrimento “, digamos.

My 25 minute AMRAP workout so didn’t happen this morning. Been feeling all the feels this week so far so listened to my body and took it slow this morning. Indulged in a malinger meditation and yoga practice than I normally have time for.
First video - super slow and stretchy yin style practice ✨ my neck is particularly sore and tight in the morning so I spent some time easing my neck and shoulders. This is 15 minutes down to 1.
Second video - a short flow. Sun salutations and a stretchy, grounding, lunge - quad stretch - backbend - splits sequence. 12 minutes -> 1 minute.
So we clash pretty badly; #dwipadasirsasana and I. But I mean really....who doesnt find this posture of #intermediateseries frustrating in the beginning. Although 8 months in it is still in baby stages and that's ok. I'm surrendering to it. Accepting it and not getting frustrated as much. Slowly working in it and breathing and relaxing and breathing and accepting. That's where my work is right now. I was fast and furious with my progression in practice when I was getting sober. The practice was my higher power for that first year. Now things have turned. Things have shifted and that means my approach to working in difficult situations (such as this asana) needs to shift too. I have to be WILLING to try something different for potential growth.
Be willing to do something differently today. 💕

I never posted this last month, and I don’t remember why. Maybe for the dip in my back, maybe for how my shoulders look, I’m not sure. But I love this photo, and this was a really great quick practice. The Great Lakes are really something, and I was at the smallest one, still convinced it was the ocean. The saline pollution even made it smell like the ocean. So anyway, enjoy this photo, cause I do. Some variation of #upwardfacingdog ? I have a appointment with my yoga mat in the living room every day.
I don’t plan what to do before I sit down. I just see what feel right when I am there. Today it felt nice to do a real powervinyasa Flow were I had extra focus were I put my feet and hands , really beeing present and mindful in every move I did. Felt so nice 💞And as @yogainspiration wrote today, “yoga is not a work out, it’s a work-in”🙏

NERVOUSNESS || Before I was a yoga teacher I used to feel nervous to go to group classes, fearful that I wasn't the best, nervous that I didn't know what I was doing or might look silly. I now know that coming to the mat is enough, yoga is not about being the best, but giving OUR BEST. Simply to commit to all our actions with consistency and excellence, in all that we do, that is yoga. -

My very first yoga class was in France, where the teacher kept telling us that no matter what, the important thing was to “Mettez-vous au tapis tous les jours”. (Get on the mat every day!). For some reason that phrase stuck in my head like a mantra ever since and I can still see the teacher walking around the room repeating it. Practice isn’t always perfect. Practice is showing up, no matter how stiff or sore. Practice is dedication, devotion to the practice itself not the end goal. Practice is creating space for yourself amongst the chaos that is life. Sometimes practice looks strong and graceful and beautiful. This was practice today. Slow, off balance, very stiff, fibromyalgia screaming at me after being on a plane for 6hrs, heavy. My practice is my ritual now, breathing, feeling, moving. No matter where I am, what is happening, it’s just me showing up to my mat and practicing. “Practice, practice, practice without attachment.” Sutra 1.12 .
And full of gratitude for being in this place with my family 24years later. .

With that plus tomorrow's gorgeous full moon 🌕 it's extra important to pay attention to how you FEEL. Breathe and soften. Be kind to yo mind, get yourself as cosy as you can and maybe do something nice for someone else (a selfish selfless act if you will because I promise it'll make you feel good 😊). I’ve been working with affirmations recently. Affirmations are said to break into our patterns of negative thinking. To cleanse our thoughts and clarify our intentions and even serve to rewire our brains.
Now whether this is 100% true or not, I don’t know for sure. But starting my day with positive affirmations definitely help my mood and my mindset for the day. I do believe that our thoughts can become our actions. The more we tell ourselves something, the more we start to believe it. .
So before you jump into your car or rush off to work or whatever it is you are doing, have a think about even just 1 affirmation for the day ahead. Maybe write it down, take it with you and come back to it later on too. Start your day as you mean to go on. And have a very happy Tuesday! ❤️
