Need a different idea for what to do with the #seeds from your #jack -o-lanterns this year?
We made #pumpkin spice roasted pumpkin seeds! It's so easy!
Toss clean and dried seeds in vegetable oil and bake at 375° for 15 minutes, then just toss in a bowl with a spoonful of sugar and add pumpkin pie spice to taste.
GBOMBS, Part 3
Onions, along with leeks, garlic, chives, shallots, and scallions, make up the Allium family of vegetables, which have beneficial effects on the cardiovascular and immune systems, as well as anti-diabetic and anti-cancer effects.
A wide array of sulfur compounds gives alliums their characteristic taste, smell, and tear-inducing pungency as well as their many health benefits, including cardiovascular protection, anti-cancer activity, lowering blood levels of cholesterol and triglycerides, lowering blood pressure, and providing anti-clotting benefits. Alliums also contain polyphenols, which along with many of the sulfur compounds, have important anti-inflammatory effects. ****Tip**** To maximize the concentration of beneficial sulfur compounds, allow chopped onions, crushed or minced garlic, sliced leeks, or other alliums to sit for a few minutes before cooking. You can also add them to an acid, such as vinegar or lemon juice. This allows the enzymes released when the alliums’ cells are broken to more completely react with sulfur-containing molecules and convert them to beneficial forms.
If onions are not your cup of tea, try sauteing then blend to hide them in sauces.

Are #Sunflower#Leaves#Edible ?
Sunflowers are completely edible, making them more than just pretty summer faces.
Nothing says summer quite like sunflowers. These #bright , #cheery#annuals add color to sun-filled corners and provide unique #dining experiences for adventurous #gardeners . Though their #seeds are a common #snack , gardeners may not know that sunflowers ( #HelianthusAnnuus ) are safe to #eat from #root to #flower#petal . Before consuming, however, consumers should verify that the sunflower has been grown #organically and has not been exposed to pesticides or other chemicals.
#Leaves for #Lunch
Sunflower leaves, brewed alone or together with the plant's roots and flower petals, make an earthy #tea . You can also eat #raw sunflower leaves as #salad greens or boil them, if you prefer, in the same manner as #spinach . For a crunchy snack, bake the sunflower leaves like #kalechips .
For a burst of color and bittersweet kick, add sunflower petals to salad. Sunflower #stalks taste similar to celery and, like celery, are sometimes eaten with #peanutbutter or #humus . The versatile roots can be roasted, fried, #steamed or eaten raw. Some people shred sunflower roots to make a slaw. The sprouts add flavor to salads and, of course, sunflower seeds make a tasty snack when #roasted .
Snack idea for you! And...Obsessed is an understatement. I mean look at those chunks. These are my new favorite snack from @healthytruthfoods 💕. They are coconut crusted cashew nut clusters with other seeds mixed in too. I drool 🤤 over them. Yum! So healthy for you being they are sprouted, full of healthy fats and omega 3/6s which is all essential to health! .
