I get asked a lot what my “secret” is to my weight loss. Well, it’s not really a secret, it’s changing my diet and exercising. 🤷🏻‍♀️ However, if I have one trick up my sleeve, it’s this meal. This is what I call “kitchen sink dinner”. It is never the same twice, but it always turns out delicious! This time, it’s kale slaw, a baby orange and yellow pepper, a small onion, left over chicken and some mild chorizo sausage. I also added a tbsp of cracked pepper Boursin cheese and sprinkled with fresh Parmesan. It’s delicious, nutritious and satisfying! I always start with a vegetable base. I almost always have bagged coleslaw or kale slaw in the fridge. I use it as a base and add more veggies and whatever protein source I want (chicken, tuna, steak, ham, bacon, sausage...)! Then, I add some seasoning if I want, and a sprinkle of cheese! I alternate around between goat cheese, feta, Asiago, Parmesan... whatever you like! It changes the flavour and texture! I eat this several times a week, usually for lunch. I make tons and pack it for my lunches for work. I’ll even cook up all the veggies and then divide it up and add different proteins and cheese to each dish! The leafy greens and cabbage are really good for you and are natural detoxifiers. I’ve even added chopped brussel sprouts, spinach, and broccoli to add to the nutritional value! It’s absolutely WW friendly and even keto friendly if you use the “approved” vegetables. I firmly believe the simplicity, and versatility of this dish has been what’s kept me on track! Weight loss is 80% food and only 20% activity. So you don’t need to kill yourself to lose weight, but it does help and it helps tone and build muscle while you’re at it. Exercise is also a great way to deal with cravings and emotions. This is hard for us who are givers and pleasers finding the time to take care of ourselves is hard. But it is so necessary.

When you are truly filling your cup and not operating from a state of emptiness or lack you can then give to yourself and to others.

When you love yourself. You feed your body the nourishing food it needs. You care for your body enough to move and be active. Self love is required to step away from a mediocre life of existence into a life of fulfillment and truth.

As moms we have to remember that our children are watching. They’ll learn more from what they see vs from what you tell them. So are you teaching them self love? Are you teaching them balance? Are you living up to your most full potential so that they can grow up and they too can live a life worth living?

Hello there from the baby bump and I! Want to know my secret to staying thin-ish without much effort?? Water! Yea really! Water is all I drink (except for my morning coffee or homemade fruit smoothies from time to time) We all know soda is horrible for you be it regular or diet. Juices are also bad because they have a ton of sugar aka carbs, same with frozen coffee and smoothies unless you make them on your own with sugar alternatives. Its amazing how many calories you spare yourself and how good water is for you. Why spend money on juice cleansing when you can do it by just keeping simple with the H2O. Another tip: not eating out and cooking your meals also helps a lot 😉

Hate the gym and eating green leafy vegetables? Sign up for a rec league sport you love and NEVER TOUCH A SALAD.

As long as what you’re doing is something you can keep up over time, and your diet is balanced and creates a deficit you’re doing the right thing!

I’ve gone through phases of trying new diets and workouts, then ‘giving up’ and just doing whatever the hell I felt like doing, and honestly I’ve seen the best results when doing it my way and no one else’s.

He laid out all the options for me; all the crazy manipulations we could do to try to improve my physique. But in the end I (and he) knew that that would not work for me. It would end up being worse. The truth is, I kept myself in a calorie deficit. That’s it, it wasn’t eliminating a certain food or food group, it wasn’t protein shakes or a special supplement. Sure those things can help and having a more restrictive diet could’ve helped me lose the weight faster BUT this is what worked for me. It kept me sane and kept me motivated because I didn’t feel like it was a diet but rather it was just a small sacrifice here and there that all added up to one big change 📉

There were weeks where I had more than one “cheat meal” and there were weeks I didn’t have one at all, sometimes for 2 or 3 weeks straight. Other times the cheat “meal” was having a full snickers bar 🍫 or a piece of fudge from @applehill. For me, it didn’t matter what it was more than I allowed myself to fully and truly enjoy it, I never regretted it and never felt bad while eating it. •

So how did I do it? Well, during this time I’ve tried to weigh my food as much as possible so I could keep an accurate count of how much I was consuming. This meant reading nutrition labels, lots of math and also A LOT of guessing. There’s a lot of restaurants that don’t have nutrition fact sheets, or... my mom, who just throws things in a pan and makes food that while delicious, could have anywhere from 1 Tbsp or 1/4 cup of oil, no one knows😩😂😳. In those cases I just guessed how much rice, beans, chicken, etc. was in the food and would try to overestimate if needed. I aimed to remain in a DAILY deficit but the overall goal was to finish out the WEEK in a deficit. So, year-over-year, 73.1 lbs ⬇️, I think it’s worked for me so far...🤗💪🏾🚶🏾‍♂️

After a hectic morning of travel we sure needed a pic me up and this totally did the trick. Higher sugar content but natural and at the right time and that's the trick, using the food as fuel and not just at any old time!

Set aside 15 to 30 minutes every single day to do some form of stress relief such as stretching, mindful breathing, dancing, walking, knitting, singing, swimming, meditating... notice these all end in 'ing' which are chiefly used to describe an action. 🌟
Sometimes just sitting and focusing on your breath for just a moment can have such a profound effect on your mental and physical well-being, just that simple action can mean the difference between health and illness.

I have spent weeks stressing over things that haven't even happened yet, work, and chasing the scale. Not to mention the stress and inflammation my body is dealing with due to an injury. This past week I stopped weighing myself everyday, I stopped giving a f*ck about the things that really don't matter, began physio, and low and behold progress was made ! There is a WEEK between these photos and proof that too much stress never got anyone anywhere.

Straight from the mouth of the man who created 14 years of the show the Biggest Loser :  you can bust your ass in the gym for hours a day, but weight loss doesn't happen in the gym.  Sounds funny coming from a man who made a show that highlighted personal trainers busting contestants to do super crazy workouts right? 
But it makes sense...and it is really cool to hear the other side of this show.  Weight loss happens by transforming your relationship with yourself, by breaking down in order to break through.  By reframing your mindset around all the ways in which you have been hurt in the past which are now subconsciously causing you to reach for your comfort - food. 
When I first heard that only 50 percent of the contestants on the Biggest Loser lose the weight and keep it off long term, I had judgements.  I had judgements that the show does things to the extreme which aren't sustainable for people in their life.  Yet through this podcast JD Roth (the producer of the show) really puts things into perspective.  The national average is 10 percent of people who lose weight and keep it off...then 50 percent  is actually tremendously better!

What makes a person on the Biggest Loser who keeps the weight off different from someone who doesn't?  JD claims it's that those who keep the weight off are able to look in the mirror.  They have the desire and ability to face themselves every day and work through their demons and challenges that we all have.  We aren't physical hungry...we are emotionally hungry and the first step to managing our eating is to manage our emotions.

5+ years ago  my eating was out of hand!  I had no control over my choices. Slowly over years of learning about myself and building some emotional intelligence I naturally began to eat to fuel my body and was no longer gripped by the addictive control that food can have on our lives. -  what do you do to care for your mental and emotional health?

So before going on a weightloss program.Ask your self what habits am I willing to give up and what habit am I willing to start.

Before my weightloss,I never prep my meals.I was always eating on the go and having take away was a standard way of life.When I got serious God show me one habit I needed to work on that will help me in the long run and that was MEAL PLANNING.It wasn't easy and straightforward but I was willing to let go and embrace something new.

6 years down the line,I am still meal prepping like a boss because I have exercise myself over and over again in it and it has become a way of life.

Today's Lunch:Brown basmati rice with chicken stew and veg for the next 3 days.

Looking to have a well rounded life with no stress.Start meal prepping on Saturday or Sunday and trust me you will not regret it.
