First of the season Satsuma mandarins have arrived! A hybrid between a mandarin and a sweet orange, the Satsuma mandarin was stumbled upon in Japan more than 700 years ago. They're coined the sweetest of all citrus varieties, and are often shipped with their leaves still on for that extra special appearance. Super easy to peel, seedless, and wonderfully sweet with notes of honeysuckle, they're a stellar citrus option for the impending holidays. Toss pieces together with roughly chopped dates and garnish a plate smeared with seasoned ricotta, or juice and use in seasonal cocktails.
