This about sums up my thoughts exactly 🙌🏼🍎🍩 Intuitive Eating is the very concept that’s helped me keep 85 pounds off + what I now use to guide my own clients.
On a real note, the act of strict dieting cannot exist if you TRUST yourself. Think about it, when we diet, we abstain from foods like doughnuts, pizza, and/or ice cream because we‘re taught to fear them.
If we deviate from our one size fits all diet plan, it’s considered “cheating.” 😡 And furthermore, we feel things like guilt or failure, so then 1 treat turns into a binge, because we “might as well enjoy it before we can’t have it anymore!” *NEWSFLASH* It isn’t you, it’s the system!
But what about the alternative? Treating yourself to an occasional “fun” food w/o the urge to binge because...
a) you trust the foundation of your healthy routine
b) you KNOW those foods are always available to you
c) food is not simply bad or good, rather more or less nutritious!
I know it can be hard to fathom a world w/o a dieting mentality, but I promise you it really does exist. There isn’t a need to have an all or nothing attitude.
When we begin to recognize our emotions around our food choices + learn what really makes us feels GOOD, we’ve conquered half the battle. (P.S. Eating treats everyday really doesn’t feel good) The rest is understanding where those emotions came from and healing them accordingly 💚
