One of our favorite new yarns this season, Boots from Schoppel Wolle- not only is this cotton/wool/nylon blend perfect for socks, but we can’t wait to knit shawls and sweaters with it too! The colors will work perfectly with hand dyed yarns and the bits of marl add something special ❤️ #yarnscout#fiberfrontier#bozeman#schoppelwolle#skacelknitting#knitting#yarn @skacelknitting
Second Saturday of Hill Country Yarn Crawl 2018: Started off the morning at The Quilted Skein in La Grange. Although I was tempted by the Space Oddity color of the featured Three Irish Girls yarn, in the end I decided on an unusually textured Schoppel yarn. And although it’s easier to take a photo without a plastic bag over the yarn, I had to take a pic with the bag because of the cute quilt fabric scraps they use to tie their bags at Quilted Skein. Then came the long drive out to Navasota. I think the alpacas had decided they had enough of being out in public by the time my mother and I arrived. The brown alpaca let us give it a few strokes on the head and back of the neck before making some silly snorts, but the other two alpacas stared at us from the back of the enclosure…no sneaker sniffing this time. (An alpaca at a Mopaca show a few years ago nuzzled my sneakers as a greeting.) WC Mercantile was my last stamp, so I turned in my passport there, although my mother still needed Yarnorama. Anyway, I picked up a brioche book, a cone of Habu silk/stainless in a bright color, a shawl pin, and a bag of tea (not pictured). The shawl pin was a last minute decision at checkout, but a sensible impulse purchase, since I do have need of a nice, basic shawl pin that’s not too big. After Navasota, we drove to Yarnorama, so my mother could get her last stamp, and so we could stop and visit for a bit. I purchased a skein of Manos laceweight (I’m going to make a variegated version of a bias cowl design), and I dropped off Coco and Chanel, tiny plush toy versions of Susan’s late angora rabbits. (The rabbits are a solid version of Yarnigans’ ‘Dutch Rabbits’ pattern.)
