Here's some quality blooperage of me coming up with new riffs.
A real, honest rant, since I rarely seriously open up to my Instagram audience about myself. A lot of people ask me how I get so good at guitar, or how I can play the way I do. Personally, I think I suck, and I always need to work on something every day. I don't get to practice every day and it's almost torture. I genuinely believe that practicing something every day is special, especially if you practice enthusiastically. I don't think you have to necessarily get good, but you should work towards an idea of yourself you find irresistible. Many think that's narcissistic but in reality, you're striving for that higher self that many misguided stoners claim to have found tripping on acid somewhere austere. No, you don't become Hendrix overnight, and even then he came from a background with the Viola, he learned music theory, and above all, he PRACTICED. So how do you practice, you ask? Well, it's simple. You have fun. You do what comes naturally, and you goof off until you realize that somewhere in that goofing off was something serious. Whether it was seriously rad, seriously shitty, seriously epic, whatever, it was serious, and it's worth going back to. So you go back to that until you put down your guitar saying "I guess that's good enough for today, and that's the one I keep." Don't keep it, instead, keep trying it for a few more days THEN keep that one. Once you kept an idea.... Practice it a fuck ton more until you can play it while blindfolded with a cat chewing on your toes. What's key here is you took something completely random and chaotic and turned it into a legit, theory verified riff that's still fun to play.
That's mostly what I do to practice, that and filming myself a bunch to make fun of my face, but even then, you're another person. And whatever you do, make sure you practice when and as much as you can, otherwise, you lose it since you didn't use it.
Ok so my first cover of this song had 265 views and I thought it sucked and I couldn’t play it right so this is an updated version hopefully better than the last one 🤘 #ghostbc#ghost#cirice#schecterguitars
