They say going after your inner most dream will be the most uncomfortable thing you ever do. Kinda like this headstand on petrified sand dunes (and the immediate vertigo the endless upside down horizon gave me😂 🙃) A month since leaving Michigan and moving to Utah, and admittedly things have not at all easily fallen into place, like I had planned. i think that, to our own detriment, as humans we feel entitled to an easy life. That once we “find our path”, it’s all straightforward and breezy from there. We’ll know when we get there, because it’ll all make sense, our insecurities will disappear, and then we’ll be able to sit back and rest.
We wrongly assume that the ease at which something happens is validation that we’re doing the right thing. Ease just makes it convenient, but since when is an extraordinary life convenient? And if so, why aren’t we all describing our own lives in that way?
If I can tell you one thing about this experience thus far, it certainly has been extraordinary. Wellness Coaching and being a part of the incredibly ambitious and tenacious community, is hands down what’s helped me to see my current situation this way. The work I’ve been putting into my online business parallels scary well with the challenges I’ve been presented personally. While it is extraordinary, it doesn’t feel like rainbows and popsicles to be here. It feels like discomfort and a lot of effort to overcome the negativity and complacency within me. And I don’t think that’s a bad thing.
However this ends up working out, it will. Plus my team and I have big goals for 2019. We may not be entitled to an easy life, but we are entitled to have the strength to overcome our obstacles and feel immense pride in doing so. Forever grateful to my coaching fam, my team, my loved ones for seeing me through this. A good friend recently told me we can’t expect to get validation for where you’re at. Validation is for parking. Not for going after an experience that’ll certainly change you.
>>>>>Leap of faith<<<<<
Sometimes we need to take a step without seeing the staircase.
It can be scary, risky, overwhelming. .
There are areas in which it's easier to close eyes and dive in.
For me it's changing the place I live. I've been living in many cities and a few countries since I turned 18.
I know I'm not done yet😁 The world is far too interesting to stick in one place🗺.
In other areas fear stopped me a few times. So I get it. You're not alone in this.
I so agree with what @socialique wrote in her post and article. (It's a must to read! She's amazing)💪.
I'm about to take my leap of faith. .
It's scary AF!!!! .
And I'm doing it anyway.
Have a great weekend!!!!!
It’s alarming to me when I see statistics like this in my work. I came upon an article that says more and more YOUNG girls are going to plastic surgeons to look NOT like celebrities, but like the “beautified” version of THEMSELVES by the effects of #Snapchat filters.
Yes, you read that right, & I CALLED this. I called this last year in one of my own Snapchat stories. It was SO predictable. I can’t imagine growing up in today’s society. I truly fear for my future children, especially my future baby girl.
The article states, “these filters are sometimes triggering body dysmorphic disorder, a mental illness that leads to compulsive tendencies such as excessive beauty procedures, wasting hours obsessing over non-existent flaws & withdrawing from social activities.” Another startling fact in this article is: “filters on Snapchat provide not just idealistic standards of beauty but entirely unhuman ones, presenting ‘an unattainable look & are blurring the line of reality & fantasy for these patients.’” This comes from a report from researchers at the Boston medical center published in the JAMA Facial Plastic Surgery journal.
Want to know what’s even scarier? This article confirms my theory, & many others in this space, that the line between what is real & what is portrayed on #socialmedia is becoming increasingly blurred, which is detrimental to our health and wellbeing.
Girls are having PLASTIC SURGERY to not only LOOK like the perfected filter version of themselves, but they’re requesting procedures for the sole purpose to look better in #selfies !! Like for real, WTF? Is this really the world we live in?
We need to be really careful here. This is not the life that we were created to live. We need to be conscious of what we look at & be diligent in knowing the difference between reality and fantasy.
I get it. I fell victim to this when IG launched by restricting my food & abusing my body. It is so important to take care of your health & wellbeing, but you do NOT have to change your appearance to fit some RIDICULOUS mold society has created.
WE are responsible for this. This is a problem that we created & WE need to fix it. It starts here. It starts now.
Idk if y'all can see it or not it's a little orb that shoots out the door to zaks back and then he got scratched crazy AF !!! Lol #ghostadventures @realzakbagans just saying I shot it through a phone right now but I didn't see a reaction or anything it went undocumented lol #scaryAF
Paramount wasn’t ready to give ‘Paranormal Activity’ a theatrical release so they asked fans to promote the film to their local cinemas and on Facebook and Twitter (2009!) and when they saw the demand for the film to open in cinemas, they added our names (10k!) to the end credits of the DVD release. #paranormalactivity#yourewelcome#scaryaf
Sharing for Awareness.....
This afternoon, I lost partial sight in my right eye. Just sitting at work and there went all things to my right....#scaryaf right?! Of course the mind instantly goes to the disaster scenario; because LOGICALLY my retina detached or I’m dying a slow death.
Frantic call and visit to my optician revealed two things:
ONE: I haven’t kept up with my eye health check ups since 2014 (shame on me)
TWO: I had just experienced my first Ocular Migraine .....the cause.....STRESS!!! Post nap in a dark room, I reflect on that diagnosis. I would never admit to being stressed E-V-E-R cos “I’ve got this shit”! Clearly NOT!
Our bodies hold stress without us even being aware of it. Find ways to lessen your load; ask for help; take time to calm your mind.
100% GUILTY of doing NONE of the above.
#failfriday 🙈 🐔 I’ve posted this one before, but it still is so crazy to look back on! Watch how I push off the platform with my hands so I avoid hitting my head, and end up landing on the spinning log on the other side!
Thanks @aspiring_human @mynameiscara and @the.flying.phoenix for being such a amazing friends and making sure I was okay!
