This is an older case of mine.
14 yr old who experienced trauma to tooth #9 .
The lingual segment of the tooth shown in the first picture was fractured and needed to be extracted. Once it was extracted, tooth was deemed non restorable. He and his mom really wanted to try to save his tooth but could not afford orthodontic extrusion.
Then a light bulb went off! We decided to extract his tooth, rotated it 180 degrees and splinted it.I performed RCT and wasn’t even sure it would work. It’s been over two years now and he still has that tooth. It’s not something I would consider as everyday tx as it isn’t ideal but worked for him! I also restored his tooth with composite. #endo#endodontics#savingteeth
We can now scan your teeth to 3D print models to construct a crown. This has helped many people who don't like having dental impression taken.
Here we have made a Zirconia white crown. This crown is metal free and robust to handle biting forces.
We can shape it to resemble a natural tooth in terms of shape and colour.
In this case it will help to protect a root treated tooth to reduce the risk of the tooth fracturing.
Here is a case where the patient will likely need more treatment in an attempt to save her #tooth . The long established lesion looks well demarcated, and has slowly displaced the axial angle of the root. Statistically, this is a #cyst . The sequence of events in this treatment plan starts with non-surgical #rootcanaltreatment , and 3 month follow up to check for signs of healing. If there is evidence of bone healing, then continued monitoring at 6,9,12 months and then every year for 4 years is recommended. If the lesion is not healing, then initial decompression plus likely surgery to remove the lesion and define it #histologically may be necessary in an attempt to save this tooth. #Savingteeth is part art and part biology; neither of which may be rushed or compromised if a good chance for positive results is expected. This requires a team of experienced & diligent providers, plus patience & commitment from the #patient . We do our best work when we all work towards a common goal. #huntingtonny#dentist
Saving infected teeth.
This tooth had a large infection. When teeth have such an infection we can still save them like in this case.
The treatment involved Root Canal Treatment where we clean the root canals inside the tooth to remove and kill as many bugs as possible before filling these canals.
This will help to restore the tooth back to function so it can be used to chew again.
Let's hope this will provide the tooth with an extended life 😀
