Morning walk to Filignano to buy some local sausage, cheese and other spoils I couldn’t resist. The Italians love their fences, and I LOVE their shadows...these ones cast nice and long at 8:30am looking back up the road to Collemacchia.
Fridge foraging at its finest 👌🏽
Tony recently went to Trader Joe’s and picked me up some their new cauliflower gnocchi! I’ve trained him well I think 😂! I’m happy to report that they’re DELICIOUS and I’m so surprised that the ingredients are simple without any gums or weird preservatives.
On my plate:
// @traderjoes cauli gnocchi (followed the pan instructions)
// 1 tin @wildplanetfoods sardines
// fava beans that I’ve been marinating in olive oil and lemon zest
// raw red onion
// Meyer lemon zest (about half)
// meter lemon juice
// pea shoot leaves
FULL VIDEO on YouTube, link in bio!! Watch us swim with millions of sardines and turtles hehe!
And yes I know now it is illegal to touch a turtle in the Philippines! Did not know at the time. My apologies to all and to the turtle. Hope you ENJOY!!
Real talk. 1 in 2 Americans suffer from a chronic disease. That was as of 2012 and it has only gotten worse. According to the CDC “chronic diseases are among the most common, costly, and PREVENTABLE of all health problems.” Do you know anyone with heart disease, cancer, diabetes or arthritis? What about IBS, hypothyroidism, Crohn’s, ulcerative colitis our clinical depression? Ok, what about Alzheimer’s, Osteoporosis, Psoriasis or Diverticulitis? There are so many and nearly ALL of them are preventable with wholesome diet and lifestyle interventions. Yes, many of them contain a genetic component of variability, but the scientific literature strongly suggests that the environmental component (everything we put in and around our body) vastly outweighs the genetic component when determining which variable has more influence. That means we have the power to choose health over disease! Disease is optional! .
Veggie bowl: lettuce, tomato, avocado, baked zucchini and yellow squash (400 degrees for 30 minutes), and sardines. Sardines have a ton of anti-inflammatory nutrients in them, and are an especially good source of EPA/DHA omega 3 fats.
