Today was a beautiful, surreal, solo adventure on the front half (35km) of the Lake Ouchita Vista Trail (LOViT). A trail deserving of an IMBA epic title. Read below for the breakdown:
S1: Fun, flowy, not-super-technical single track. Just let the bike and body do what they were made to do, and get lost in sights and sounds, and in your own mind. The kind of trail you can ponder life while riding. Could have just done loops of it all day.
S2: A smattering of a couple nice single track sections but mostly double track or long technical rocky climbs. Not quite what I wanted on day 5 of the MTB roadtrip, but still satisfying to earn the turns to come.
S3: Fast and loose. Watch out for those rocks! Technical rugged downhill.
S4: Trail smooths out a lot, mostly downhill still, couple easy climbs. Quite a nice flow to it. Almost as fun as S1.
S5: not memorable, 600m long.
First 3k of S6: great flow, great views. Will have to come back to do all of S6!
The Hightower loved the XC riding of Bentonville’s Back 40. Dropper post also took things up a notch today. These trails are a bit rockier than the Slaughter Pen, I think I’ll hit that up for my bonus ride today. #seeyouonthetrails
