A very special tattoo for an awesome person.
This piece is inspired by the character Delirium in Neil Gaiman’s graphic novel, Sandman.
I think it was truly kismet this client and myself met, and I think for both of us this piece is a special one.
I had a really rough start of the week , and was truly down on myself with doubt and uncertainty . This piece reminded me that as a tattoo artist we are healers of a sort , and have the true blessing to offer catharsis through our talents for our clients; this is a gift and also a great responsibility to do right by them.
I know that most of the time tattooing requires a thick skin, and that not all projects are going to be heartfelt. But times like these when I can really connect with my client , give them joy when they look down at their piece, all my frustrations, exhaustion, long hours , doubt, and second guessing vanish, and I feel I am doing exactly what I should be doing. I’m happy I’m an emotional being in an industry that requires “toughness”because I know I’m helping people and that’s what I’ve always known in my heart I needed to do.
This was a sweet ending to a very long week. My energies are restored and I’m ready to move forward with the next week.
Cheers to human connection, caring, and using our talents to change lives. Thank you Kristen. 💛
