Showstopper - Handsome - Dominant - He is none other than the "Prince of Jhalana".
The short trip to Jhalana was short yet exciting and amazing in terms of not just spotting leopards but so many other species with great photo opportunities. However the leopards of Jhalana are surely the highlight and if you haven't yet visited you must do a trip sooner or later...
Prince the big male believes in bringing down larger prey unlike the females and goes after the young sub adult Nilgai’s or chital. He is mostly seen patrolling zone1 and 2 and prefers the hilly terrain as his resting place, especially the old fort area. After having spotted so many females, Prince was definitely on top of our list and during the morning drive just before our safari was about to end we spotted him. Initially in a rocky terrain and then he majestically walked well in the open. I really loved his attitude and capturing him with direct eye contact was simply amazing. He truly made our day, by posing for a while offering plenty of photo opportunities.
On the previous evening we had spotted him at water hole but it was too late and light was extremely low and I had made few records shots which are actually not bad, that I realized only after viewing on my iMac, will share them as test cases of low light performance by Canon 1DX MK2 connected with Canon f2.8 400mm lens.
