Your daily dose of Janet and Stephen! They are so playful, affectionate and AWARE. Piglets are such smart creatures. They are smarter than dogs. I want everyone to understand this. The pigs in @ethically_elizabeth’s story and feed who are now thrown in dumpsters after drowning in flooding due to #hurricaneflorence were also playful, affectionate and aware. Please. Make the connection. Veganism is something everyone on the planet should explore thoroughly and consider adopting in their own life. Save the planet. Save the piglets. Save yourselves. ❤️🙏
making my personal space a sanctuary has always been v important to me.
the world can be dark & my room needs to be a source of love and light so i can reflect and restore my spirit after those not so easy days.
i just want to feel cozy forever ✨
This is China. Can you believe it? I couldn’t even though I was in the middle of it. It felt almost like New Zealand or Norway or Eastern Canada, but China? No way! We spent 3 nights on the Yangtze River and we were blown away by the views this country has to offer. Add it your bucket list!
It was so lovely meeting you both today Sarah and Steven !! You’re both doing amazing work helping/saving animals! I can’t wait to come visit your @thesweetsanctuary soon! All the best to you and all the 🐖🐐🐑🐂 🐎🐓❤️
Not easy to watch but imagine how difficult it is for those brave people who are on the ground right now searching for animals who may still be alive. Brave people who are risking their lives to save others and document the suffering of those who died. Now imagine how awful it must have been for the animals themselves. No one deserves to be exploited and killed. No one deserves to be locked inside while water rushes in to drown them. No one deserve to be tossed into dumpsters like they’re rubbish. Babies and mothers just discarded. Is bacon really worth it?
Gloomy weather affecting your mood? What are you doing to turn that around? I'm burning my favorite candle, (at the moment. Because let's face it, I love them all) Queen, and listening to some Jill Scott.
All I need is a glass of vino...
We are here at the shop until 7ish.
When, as concerned animal lovers, we claim no religion would allow the
barbaric acts of chicken torture for kaporos, we are actually correct
in that this is not a religious tradition. Giving them the religious
excuse grants them permission to break countless laws under the guise
of religious freedoms. The fact is this is not religion. In no
religious text is there mention of the use of chickens for kaporos.
This barbaric act is carried out only for the sake of tradition which
has been passed down from one rabbi to the next. Hasidic people are a
very well read group of people. Yet they must read the simple prayers
of kaporos from a laminated piece of paper. Proving that this is not
inherent to their religion, but only an archaic practice of tradition.
If we want to see this end we have several avenues to explore.
First we can make efforts to shut down all live markets. At the very
least, the delivery of live animals should be restricted to only
places licensed to slaughter animals, and not just dumped on the
streets. Second we can easily prove, as many rabbis have stepped
forward to admit, this is not a religious practice. This is a
tradition that is practiced by a sect of a religious group, but not
part of that religion. Third hitting them financially can put an end
to this. The companies that supply the chickens are well aware that
the crates will be stolen. Go to a live market and examine the
condition of the crates. Then go to a kaporos ritual and notice the
crates are near there last use. This can also be seen in the fact that
they are sending less healthy chickens that are less likely to sell.
On a side note, if you think kaporos is disgusting; research b’peh. If
NYC health departments are not capable of stopping b’pec, then its a
long road for the health department to stop the torture of chickens.
If you would like to join us in ending this as we continue to rescue
chickens from this barbaric act, as well as aiding in the care of
these chickens; please share the link in bio.

Beauty comes in so many different forms. Last night it came in the form of this beautiful human @andronica.s
She led an amazing class and we can’t wait to have her back again.✌🏻🌿💚
Thank you for sharing your time and energy with us.

First off, I want to thank this amazing sanctuary and the beautiful people who run it for giving me the space to give back in many ways. The kind individuals who attended this class experienced self love while bonding with these precious animals and donating what they can to help keep them fed. It was an honor leading this event that delivers such a good cause.
Secondly, I have to thank my rock star assistant, Shirley. 🧘🏻♀️🦃 She came up on that platform with me and stayed right by my side the whole time, which brought so much laughter and joy to the yogis and me. Her presence calmed me and boosted my confidence. There were certain balances I demonstrated that had me hovering over her and even after everything she’s been through, she was never spooked. When the class was over, I sat beside her and rubbed her head and thanked her for keeping me company and trusting my energy. Just as she did in class, she calmed me again but this time with her soothing breathing and warm, appreciative glance into my eyes.
The thing with animals is that everything around you could be perfectly silent yet looking into their eyes, they say so much. They allow you to stay present and genuine. Some people choose to ignore this therapeutic connection with animals and just throw away their eyes, their heart and eat there bodies instead. I will never be that person again. I am forever enlightened and beings like Shirley remind me of that everyday.
Thank you so much for this picture. The next morning when I received this from @nickieveganlove I was instantly teary-eyed because now I don’t only have to revisit this memory mentally, but visually too. #lovealwayssanctuary#notthesamebutequal#jico#chicken#individual#sanctuary#vegan#veganfamily#vegankids#love#joy#rescue#foster#adopt#yogi#veganshare#kindness#compassion#empathy#instagood#photooftheday
Happy hump day, everyone! Now that you’ve made it to the weekly half mark, take some time to relax and reflect. Too many of us choose to rush through the week & get to the weekend while forgetting to treat ourselves during the weekdays too.
