I have a real thing for windows. Beautiful, original windows that let loads of light in and frame glorious views. So this end of our family/dining room is a bit of a problem for me... it’s a really long room with no natural light and I refuse to put a mirror on the back wall because feng shui says that placing a mirror directly opposite a window will just reflect energy straight out of the room 🤷♀️. So there goes my opportunity to reflect light in! Instead, I’ve attempted to embrace the subdued light and make it a cosy space and on the back wall, added slightly reflective colour in the form of these plates from @grayshottpottery. I got them in their seconds shop - it’s one of my favourite places to rummage - and each plate (close up) has little imperfections that makes it unique. They were £3.40 each. Hope everyone has a cosy evening!
This table was filthy when I found it upside down in a dumpster in Westlake Ohio. We made this our dining room table for a few years after I throughly cleaned and refinished it. It’s since been retired to laundry table duty. There is a leaf that folds out from the middle. I applied probably four coats of paint and two to three clear coats on this one. The yellow color like pretty much everything I’ve done was one of two options that I had at the time. I try not to waste materials. I also try to only buy materials if absolutely necessary when working on my own fun projects. #dutchtable#diningtable#refinishedfurniture#upcycledfurniture ##salvagedfurniture#paintingfurniture#crestonpainting#kitchentable
I love fireplaces🔥 . Proper, wood burning fireplaces. I hate fake ones, which is what we had when we moved in (swipe to see 🤮). We actually installed this stove at our last house and then brought it with us when we moved because we love it so much and I don’t think there’s anything better than lighting it on a chilly day and letting the warmth fill the room. With such a mild autumn so far, we’ve not had the need to light it yet (although I did consider doing so for the photo and then thought that’s just silly). This is at one end of our ‘family room’ so it’s where our big, proper dining table is as well as all the toys. It gets used most in winter and the fireplace has a guard around it then to stop little hands getting burnt which isn’t that attractive but y’know, safety first, people 🙅🏼♀️. #myhousethismonth#fireplace#warmth#myaastyle#madedotcom#1930shouse#myperiodhomestyle#autumndecor#cosyhome#vintagefurniture#salvagedfurniture#offblack#newinteriorsontheblock#familyroomdecor#familyroom
