Drove past the massive salt pans in Marakkanam today. And I wandered down memory lane to that long drive along ECR with @cristinamittermeier and @jennygnichols when we stopped at these places to photograph the people who work there.

This is the Nyae Nyae Pans, a large complex of beautiful salt pans within the 9,000sq kilometre conservation area that surrounds Tsumkwe, where local communities are given the right to manage their wildlife and tourism in a sustainable way.
Nyae Nyae is home to scattered villages, prehistoric dunes, huge boabab trees and nomadic game. The vast array of wildlife includes numerous antelope species, elephant, spotted hyena and wild dog. Dozens of waterbird species including rare wattled cranes, slated egrets and even flamingos migrate to its waters during the rainy season. Make this experience yours. Golden hour makes everything that much more golden✨🌞
This place may not be the prettiest, but it was definitely something very unusual and interesting! These are salt pans that we stopped by for on our day trip to Gozo today and I really enjoyed seeing them! It was the real life process of water evaporated to get the sea salt and walking there made it so much fun!
The past week I have been asked the same question over and over.
"Don't you wish you didn't have to leave Malta" No is my answer.
Why? Not because I don't wish I could stay but beacuse I have learned to accept things as they are and learned that getting attatched brings nothing but pain. Yes I miss my family, the beach, the fresh air, the good food but I have learned to enjoy being there when I'm there and being here when I'm here. I love my parents and my family more than I ever did before and there are more of them to love with a nephew and a niece but clinging to there when I am here brings nothing but misery to my life. .......... If anyone ever told me that a few years ago I would have argued that they just don't get it till I was blue in the face. ........... I was so attatched to the way things were while I'm there that I couldn't even fully enjoy being there as sadness took over knowing that soon I'd have to leave.
Accepting things as they are can make life so much lighter.
Day 9 in Slovenia 🇸🇮: Sečovlje Salina Landscape Park, where salt is still produced in a traditional way. In the middle of the park, there is a spa to relax by salt water pool or to enjoy a salt body treatment 🌸
