A week full of postbox love! Coming from the Pacific, you must sense my longing...1. My cousin Kinuko sends salt lemons from the tree at grandma’s house on the Big Island, and knowing I love kulolo, a sticky Hawaiian taro pudding, a pack of instant that neither of us have yet sampled. I’ll let you know! What a great package, it could be picture of Spam, another local favorite. 2. Kate sends treasures from the Mendocino coast-an abalone fragment, a worn shell, eucalyptus pods, leaf, a hollow seed, a stone and two packages of seeds, one labeled “surprise vintage flower seeds 2018” with a local painting of the waves by David Cross. 3&4. On the right a card from Malcolm, the delightful volunteer ranger and horticulturalist we met on the Lost Coast. He sends a card of a painting of the coast itself by Bryce Gray, with a welcome and well wishes for this new chapter, and on the left, direct from the Yorksonian in Anderson Valley, a Lichtenstein postcard from the amazing Paula Gray, an artist helping me imagine what my house could look like with modern furniture, or any for that matter! The table and stool seen in these photos are about it besides the bed! Lady Gray, I included Cub in your photo for Rudie and Twist! Please tell Twist I am wearing both black AND white! Such big hugs to all of you for the thoughtful gifts that warm my heart, 💗🙏🏽💗 #postboxlove#friends#friendstakingcare#aloha#love#lostcoast#kulolo#saltedlemons#hawaii#pacific
Old citrus needed a hard prune and feed.
Resultant fruits given the Moroccan fermentation treatment.
In case it sound like we do this all the time, this is actually a first time experiment. Fingers crossed.
#SideBySide comparison of #saltedlemons just started (left) and after just a week (right.) The #Fermentation process has surprisingly made progress very quickly. I'm wondering if this has to do with the #lemons being #organic and #allnatural ? The few pieces I was tempted to try the last few days were actually quite #yummy 😋 though most recipes recommend waiting at least a month or two lol 😜
😂One of the ladies that is in our workout circle brings in salted lemons for after our run/jog to help with electrolytes. I don't know anything about them but she tells us to eat the entire slice: rind & all, so I do. It gets ya, but it's refreshing!
