Saksun is one of the most beautiful and distinct places on the Faroe Islands, located at the end of what once was a narrow fjord surrounded by high mountains on both sides.
This remote hillside village only has 14 inhabitants and includes a church (built in 1858) and Dúvugarðar, an active sheep farm that also functions as a museum.

One of the most popular attractions in the Faroe Islands is the boat tour to the Vestmanna Birdcliffs and Grottos. We sailed into grottos, through narrow sounds, and close to the almost 2,000 feet high vertical cliffs, where birds such as puffins, guillemots, fulmars and kittewakes nest each summer. We even got to go up close to Elephant Rock and the Witch's Finger.

This idyllic little village is perched on a steep grassy hillside overlooking an azure blue lagoon in a beautiful Faroese fjord. We actually visited this location twice, as said fog from my last capture meant we really couldnt see anything at all! Definitely happy we did! 😉
Saksun, Faroe Islands. Took a day off the bike for a day long hike, out to the beach at Saksun. Located at the end of an 11 km lane, stretching between two ranges of tall cliffs with waterfalls spilling everywhere, the isolated village is a few kilometres from the large spectacular beach. I was able to secure a room in a house there, which allowed me a day out at the beach. Not a sunny day, however, but still a day of wonder and play. Walk in #saksun one of the loveliest places. Can't do it justice. Tear in my eye. Might have been the wind. Last pic is just the beginning of the Great Skua divebombing as we strayed into their territory. I thought people were joking about hiking with big sticks for protection! @pedrosbaker has the footage. #skua#hike#estuary#sandbar#faroeislands
