Today I’m remaining unbothered with Princess Nokia singing in the back of my mind “Don’t you fuck with my energy, Don’t you fuck with my energy, Don’t you fuck with my energy, Don’t you fuck with my energy.” Plantitas are my magic portal to this vibe. Gracias Mamá Tierra for this gift and this sacred medicine. I’ll carry her energy in gratitude with me ALL DAY!

Exceptionally purple Datura. The Datura flowers I see around Santa Barbara and LA counties are usually white, perhaps w just a touch of purple. Aroma is also quite inconsistent plant-to-plant, and this one smelled amazing, almost jasmine-y. Chumash called this sacred plant Momoy, but I wouldn’t use it like they did! #datura#california#flora#flowers#sacredplants#scary
AN OPEN LETTER ABOUT
EQUITY AND JUSTICE IN CANNABIS
“We are cannabis organizers. We work in the emerging field at the intersection of the cannabis industry, racial equity, and restorative justice. We come from a diverse range of communities across the United States, and we write to demand recognition and support in a time of moral crisis in this field.
In the face of unfolding inequities, built upon a decades-long, racist War on Drugs, an informal network of organizers and advocates has been agitating for change. We do this work out of love and necessity, but we are largely unsupported by the cannabis industry and by the traditional funders of equity work. Cannabis organizers tend to be, unsurprisingly, women of color, many of whom have been directly impacted by the War on Drugs.
We lack funding and basic infrastructure, yet we have to negotiate directly with both multi-million dollar corporations and policymakers.” Read the full letter via the link in bio over at @equityfirstalliance.
Also if you’re not following this org yet, check out their page and all the good work they do in ensuring s equitable and fair cannabis industry for all 👊🏽
These “spirit tubers” in the genus Cyperus, are an ancestral cultigen of the Secoya ancestors, used to protect from bad spirits and calm the nervous system. We were blessed to have received this plant as a gift from Don Rogelio Piaguaje, Secoya elder when he visited the lodge on one of our Council Gatherings. #sacredplants#ethnobotany#piripiri
Whenever I think of Roses, I think of my MaMa (my abuelita). She’s always maintained a beautiful garden, even in her late years where it’s harder for her, she still tends to a yard full of flores. It makes me smile when I see them, a little bit of her magic I’m certain is in every single rose. They’re a reminder, the magic you hold can manifest anywhere as long as you tend and care for it.🌹

Natives please be careful as well. In a way we are the guardians of this land everything that resides within and on it. A though it is needed for ceremonies, cleansing, etc please keep in mind it is also endangered. Not that it is the fault of our own, but once it’s gone. It’s gone. To all these “boho”, “hipster/hippie”, new age businesses please stop picking sage for your profit. You are not picking out of necessity or only what you need. You are picking out of greed and exploitation. Stop using sacred items and botanicals in mass marketing. It’s extremely damaging to not only to the people who find it sacred but to earth itself. Everything is connected and all life is reliant on each other. #endangered#endangeredspecies#endangeredplants#shortage#whitesage#palosanto#goodmedicine#sacredplants#sacredherbs#sacredmedicine#indigenous#poc#woc#minorities
First time smudging our apartment today. 🙏🏻
Smudging is the common name given to a powerful cleansing technique from the Native North American tradition. Smudging calls on the spirits of sacred plants 🌿 to drive away negative energies and restore balance. ☯️ Cleansing a space or our bodies clears away all of the emotional and psychic ‘garbage’ 🗑 that may have gathered over years or even hundreds of years. 🙀💯
The change in season is a great time to cleanse your home, whether it be spiritually or physically (clean out those closets!). 🍂
PS Stay tuned for an announcement tomorrow of a FREE gift that I’ll be offering you all!! 😀💚
I have been so stretched with my time in the last few months, working so hard, spreading myself so thin between jobs, the projects I’m working on, family and home. As I went into my bleeding time I felt like I was sinking, not giving myself enough time to rest. My body and spirit were screaming at me to stop, but sometimes life just keeps you running. Finally I have some time to re-fill my cup. I’m home alone for a few weeks, while the guys are away sailing. I have four whole days at home. My body longs to lay on the earth, play music, sit by the fire and be still. I’ve been feeling so called to honour the life force within me and my creative projects I’m working on and the songs coming through me at the moment. I feel this inspiration coming from the creative force of nature, despite the harsh drought and bushfires we have had throughout this past winter. Mother Earth is resilient, she knows the ways of the wild beyond our intellectual and emotional attachments. Sometimes I feel like I live in a dust bowl, rather than the usual green lush bush that usually surrounds me. Yet as I walked around my garden I picked all the wonderful flowers, some so tiny but smelling so so sweet, thriving in these harsh conditions. This alter is an honouring of that life force, the remembrance that there is also medicine in the fire and the drought. They are all an aspect of mother earths sacred ways. She knows what to do. We need to remember to trust her and come back into sacred remembrance of her wild ways.
Thank you beautiful sister Devani @earth_altars for your inspiration for this practice. Your work is always inspiring me.
