“Fasting will help you draw closer to Yahuwah. King David said, “I humbled my soul with fasting” (Psa. 35:13)—and Yahuwah said that David was “a man after His own heart” (I Sam. 13:14; Acts 13:22). What about you? Are you “after Yahuwah’s heart”? Unless you are willing to humble yourself, you cannot be close to your Creator.
This is important! Notice James 4: “Yahuwah resists the proud, but gives grace unto the humble” (vs. 6). If you are proud—lifted up, dependent on self—Yahuwah will not hear or help you. He cannot and will not work with a proud mind. But when you fast, you humble yourself. You draw near to Yahuwah, and He draws near to you. If you rely on Him for strength, He will lift you up.
Submitting to Yahuwah—obeying Him—gives you the strength to resist the devil. Fasting binds Satan; he will have no choice but to flee from you. He cannot get to you when you are close to Yahuwah.
How important this is for a child of Yahuwah! Read James 4:7-10. Notice how he talks about humbling yourself, weeping and mourning: “Submit yourselves therefore to Yahuwah. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to Yahuwah, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double minded. Be afflicted [fast], and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Yahuwah, and He shall lift you up.”
This is all part of fasting. Do this, and as you draw near to Yahuwah, He will draw near to you.” From the article: “What you need to know about fasting” by The Restored Church
🔹We need The Most High🔹How spiritually beneficial is fasting? What good comes from afflicting your body?
Most people don’t see the need for Yahuwah in their lives. Like King Nebuchadnezzar, they believe that they are responsible for their talents and abilities. They also credit themselves for everything they have or do (Dan. 4:30). Because they are proud and lifted up—vain—they do not understand that Yahuwah gives them life and breath (Job 12:9-10).
Even those who may be striving to obey Yahuwah, who admit that they are weak and need Yahuwah’s strength and guidance, may not fully understand this. Saying something and fully comprehending it are two different things.
Job realized this after a long period of trials and afflictions, as he said, “I have heard of You [Yahuwah] by the hearing of the ear: but now my eye sees You. Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes” (42:5-6).
Your mind can deceive you into believing that you are doing fine, that you don’t need Yahuwah, or that you are close to Him, when the opposite is in fact true. Yahuwah sums this up in Jeremiah 17:9: “The heart [mind] is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?”
It is easy to fool yourself! A mind exists in you that simply does not want to obey Yahuwah: “Because the carnal [fleshly] mind is enmity against [the enemy of] Yahuwah: for it is not subject to the law of Yahuwah, neither indeed can be” (Rom. 8:7). Take this verse for what it says. Your physical mind is literally the enemy of Yahuwah! But if you will humble yourself through fasting, Yahuwah is ready and able to help you (Psa. 34:15). When you feel the hunger and thirst, the extent of your dependence upon Yahuwah becomes clear.
1 Corinthians 9:24-27
Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.
And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.
I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:
But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
James 1:12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
Revelation 2:7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.
Revelation 2:11 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.
Revelation 2:17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.
Revelation 2:26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:
Revelation 2:27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.
Revelation 2:28 And I will give him the morning star.
Revelation 2:29 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
We see here that the Savior told us that there is power in prayer and fasting. He even said that it is IMPOSSIBLE for that kind of demon to be cast out except through prayer and fasting. To humble ourselves and deny our flesh brings spiritual strength. We see in the story of Daniel that his fasting gave Him the favor of Yahuwah and an angel was sent to Him to give him a message. 👉🏽 ““In those days I, Dani’ĕl, was mourning three weeks of days. I did not eat desirable food, and meat and wine did not come into my mouth, and I did not anoint myself at all, till the completion of three weeks of days. And on the twenty-fourth day of the first new moon, while I was by the side of the great river, that is Ḥiddeqel, then I lifted my eyes and looked and saw a certain man dressed in linen, whose loins were girded with gold of Uphaz!
And he said to me, “O Dani’ĕl, man greatly appreciated, understand the words that I speak to you, and stand upright, for I have now been sent to you.” And while he was speaking this word to me, I stood trembling. And he said to me, “Do not fear, Dani’ĕl, 👉🏽for from the first day that you set your heart to understand and to humble yourself before your Elohim, your words were heard, and I have come because of your words.”👈🏽
Dani’ĕl (Daniel) 10:2-5, 11-12 TS2009
WOW! He said from the FIRST DAY you set your heart to understand and to humble yourself before your Elohim, and this is why his words were heard BUT what we else? He said He was sent down to Daniel because of Daniel’s words. Amazing! Rewards are on the other side of humbleness.
Few of us rest well, but we were created to do so. @lara_dentremont restores right thinking on rest by challenging our prideful misconceptions: "Resting isn’t selfish, but it’s a humble submission to God’s purpose for us." // Link in profile #rest#pride#humility#sabbath

Just wanted to offer a bit of Scriptures for motivation and encouragement. There were great men and women who came before us who fasted for various reasons. We can see that Ester fasted to request Yahuwah’s help in gaining the favor of the King. Ezra fasted because of the sins of Israel when they were exiles. King David fasted 7 Days because he sinned and was told that his child would die. Elijah fasted 40 Days and nights because there were people out to take his life and they had killed the other prophets. Moses of course fasted 40 Days and nights while he was in the presence of Yahuwah receiving the tablets with the commandments. And our Savior! He fasted 40 Days and nights while being tempted by Satan. What is the first thing that Satan tempted Him with? he Told the Savior to turn the rocks into bread. Satan comes to us at our weak points and offers us what would be the most tempting at that specific time. Once we resist him, he will flee and we will gain spiritual strength from fasting. How do I know that we will become stronger after fasting? We can see plenty of examples of scripture where those who fasted received Yahuwah’s favor and spiritual strength. We must humble ourselves and deny our flesh. You can do it. Call on Yahuwah for strength.

We should not own any idol carved images, no idol images on paper or idol images of the cross on our bibles, no jewelry of ANY idol. We do not bow down to anything other than Yahuwah, and we do not put anything in the place of The Most High. If we aren’t observing the Sabbath Day, then whatever we are doing that day instead of the Sabbath has become an idol to us. Even if it’s sleep or work, it has taken the place of Yahuwah and prevented us from exalting Him and keeping Him our first priority ON HIS SET APART DAY. The cross symbol stands for Tammuz! It does not stand for Yahushua dying for us. Please research this and you will see. The cross is a pagan symbol. It’s like The Most High knew this was going to happen so He specifically WROTE IT DOWN FOR US, so we could follow His INSTRUCTIONS ON IDOLATRY WHICH IS CALLED THE LAW. But people want to argue that the commandments are done away with. Such nonsense! This commandment is the second commandment. No idolatry for we serve a jealous Elohim. DO NOT OFFEND HIM WITH THIS SIN. If you have any of these idols, now is the time to repent and get rid of it. Don’t wait. Just throw it out. If any activity or person has been put ahead of Yahuwah, now is the time to ask for forgiveness and not let that thing take Yahuwah’s position of authority or esteem any more. Christmas trees, nativity scenes with the statues of Mary, Joseph and our Savior are carved images and must be destroyed. Statues of Angels is idolatry. Star of David is not the Star of David it is a pagan symbol.
On the ninth day of our ten day countdown to the Day of Atonement brings us to the second commandment which is against idolatry. Idolatry takes many forms. It is a graven image, but can also be an idea or philosophy, another human being - even a spouse – or yourself in order to rationalize some sinful indulgence. Anything that you are putting ahead of your Heavenly Father: friends, sports, school, entertainment, food, shopping, ANYTHING. Meditate and pray that your eyes be opened to understand the principles of the second commandment: "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image . . . Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them . . . ." Ask to be shown what idolatry has crept into your life during the last year.
Common false idol images and statues are:
🔹The cross image or statue or jewelry
🔹Mother Mary image or statue 🔹Angel image or statue
Personal Message by @elliannebatt : “This past June I had the amazing experience to go to Brazil for HEFY. At the airport when we finally all got together as a group we were all instantly super close. We got along great and didn't have any problems. It felt almost like we already knew each other, and a lot of us kept getting déjà vu, like we already knew one another. It was pretty crazy because every single one of us felt the same way! Then on one of the last nights we had testimony meeting and Peter our dad chaperone bore his testimony and closed by saying this, "I know for a fact that we all knew each other in the premortal life. We all had a purpose and Heavenly Father brought us here together for a reason." I just thought that was so cool, and I know that we have many marvelous things to accomplish in the after life and that we have already accomplished many things in the premortal life. I have been struggling with the gospel and I know God sent me to change the lives of those kids in Brazil and to change my life. I am so thankful for the experience, and i'm excited for what Heavenly Father has in store for me in the future”. #scriptures#lds#bookofmormon#christ#love#isreal#prophets#scriptures#atonement#bible#mormon#church#sunday#faith#kindness#charity#christian#sabbath#holy#generalconference#tithing#personalprogress#youngwomens#youth#priesthood
