I finished this book on Friday. I found that the struggles I face everyday are the same many of my friends. If you feel like you’re alone in your struggles, read this book! Seriously I loved it! I’m finding my own mantra and moving forward in so many aspects of my life, but sometimes I don’t feel like anyone understands just how much I do. But when I read this, I realized that most of us are probably going through the same stuff. @msrachelhollis #girlwashyourface ❤️ #workingmom#runningenthusiast#mantra
Before I wake up a year older tomorrow, can I just take a second to treat my instagram like a microblog for a second? Can I just tell you a little about this past year and some things I have learned?
If I had to sum it all up in one word, it would be INDEPENDENCE. If you've been following my journey for a while, you may know that I celebrated my 31st birthday in Michigan and then took my time on a solo road trip back to Colorado with a busted up foot in a walking boot. But I fully enjoyed that trip and my INDEPENDENCE. .
Then, it was back to school time (k-12 school teacher) and I didn't love my position or chosen path in life. Through running, I found my INDEPENDENCE outside of the classroom, got through some rough days in the education world, made some tough decisions. By April I made the decision to leave education, finish the school year, and then work some independent gigs in the fitness world.
Throughout the crazy school year, I had trained for two marathons- one of which I traveled to and ran totally #independently not knowing a single soul. I loved it. It really geared me up for an awesome summer. .
This summer has been amazing. I have taken on challenges that I would never have considered in the past. I have ran/hiked more miles on my own that I would have previously. I have trained in the night, and summited peaks INDEPENDENTLY. I have covered areas/trails that I would have barely considered in the past.
I am feeling younger, happier, and healthier than I have ever been. My mood/anxiety is better than it's ever been. I am honestly stoked to see what year 32 has in store. (Ok.... I hope it involves a 30+ mile race and some training for a 50 miler.......)
