I'm back folks....well kind of back...I never really went away!
Knee recovery going well. Plenty of physio exercises and I dont think I'm too far off running.
So for now, here my motivation!! On the left, many moons ago, a little bit rounder! On the right, at a wedding last year. .
Definitely a kick in the rear and motivation for when I get back in my trainers!
De Zevenheuvelenloop liep bij mij niet helemaal zoals gepland, met name de kou hebben mij parten gespeeld afgelopen zondag🥶 Benieuwd hoe de gehele race verliep? Lees het nu op mijn blog! #linkinbio @nnzevenheuvelenloop
Willpower and desire, when properly combined, make an irresistible pair.
Running post after a long time on my profile. Well, for those who don't know, I had a ligament injury on my foot in September and was off running and heavy workouts since 2 months. I was religiously doing the stretches that were prescribed by physio. These 2 months were quite dissapointing as I was not able to participate in few events that I was looking forward to and also because I was missing what I love to do the most-RUN.
Nevertheless, I thought that I should slowly start running( though I was really scared about recurrence of my injury). I was going for brisk walks since few days and finally, I was in tears today morning after I finished 5 kms run that too without any break. My target was to finish it within 30 minutes and I was overwhelmed after finishing it in 28 minutes( not too far from my PB - 23 minutes). Having said that, this injury has taught me that though we should push our limits but at the same time it's equally important to listen to our body and give it proper rest and stretching.
Thanks to all who wished me a speedy recovery. P.S: Looking forward to run long distance soon 😀
Well, I didn’t get in a quality session for Track Tuesday because the body just isn’t up to it, but I did get a spectacular 360 view of our city and some nice chats with the coach on an easy yet hilly trot.
Taking a few days out now to rest and rejuvenate 🤕
5.0 min/km pace
Avg HR 139 bpm
It will take a little while to come off the high! Which is a good thing since it is going to take me a few days before I am ready to hit the pavement again. 😜
Chairs and stairs are still a challenge...
Can you tell it’s wildfire season? 🔥 We were praying for gorgeous weather on our last day in Tombstone, and of course it was blue bird skies when we woke up. The only problem was that there was so much smoke in the air it pretty much blocked out the sun 😂 It made for perfect hiking weather though so I guess we got exactly what we needed to go out and do some exploring! 2018 was supposed to be a BIG year of racing for me....and.......then life suddenly got in the way. 🤦🏻♂️
At the beginning of the year, I had set a lofty goal for races, but, unfortunately, I didn’t come close to the # that I had set for myself. Social media made it especially difficult as I was constantly seeing race/medal pics...and, naturally, this ended up giving me a serious case of FOMO! Instead of dwelling on it, and, beating myself up, I decided to look at the positive side of things. The reality is, this was actually a great year for me, it just ended up being more about ‘quality vs. quantity’. In addition to completing my 2nd & 3rd Half Marathons, I also managed to set a P.B. in 3 of the 4 races. I was also VERY fortunate to have met many of you at races, expo’s, and, around the city! Besides these beautiful medals, I’m equally happy about the lessons I learned in each of these races. Although I’ve made some major progress, there’s still plenty of room left for improvement. One thing’s for sure, I’m going to continue to focus more on hills/speed work, as this is crucial if I hope to kill it in 2019!
Although there’s still time to complete a couple more races, I haven’t registered for anything else...so it’s looking doubtful as we edge closer to the end of the year. As we all know, life is unpredictable...so this could change very quickly!😏 On another note, my apologies for being MIA the past few weeks, it’s been a hectic time for me, but, don’t worry, I’ll be back to my regular posting pattern very soon. Thanks for the ongoing support, especially those of you that sent me the kind & supportive DM’s! 🙏🏻 As always, I hope you’re all doing well, and, kicking ass with your goals!
Goodnight and have an awesome week!🌙 #shaneruns#medalmonday#ciele#everybodyrun
