That was a tough session 🙄
When I’m training on my own my trick is to write down exactly what I’m going to do before I go into my garageGym. I’m not one to give up, so if it’s written down it’s got to be done 🤪.
Today was hard so I had to brake the 10 sets down. Did first one to check good with the selected weights & de-layer! Then did 5 sets, 2 min rest, followed by final 4 sets. Total 600 reps 😎
Clearly if felt an injury during, I’d stop or change the exercise.
Thanks for pic Al 🤔
Putting in some work last night at @pcsportsperformance.
Everyone has a story or journey about fitness or a lifestyle change. So here is mine:
About 15 or 16 years ago, I was working for a small beach town. I was in my young 20s and ate like I was a teenager. During this time, I was over 200 pounds. I know some of you think that is not a lot but it was 200 pounds of crappy eating and not working out. I was challenged or a bet was made that I could not run a half marathon. Not being a person who backs down from a challenge, I accepted and began my journey.
The first time that I went out and ran, I was only able to go for five minutes. Exhausted and winded, I knew that I needed to make a change. That is when I put my head down and began to work. I ran the weight off! 5K, 10K, half marathons. Eventually taking the next step to marathons. Then finding trail running and ultra distance races which is all I do now. This is a story for another time.
Now over the past three years finding a balance with adding muscle but maintaining speed. This is my journey. It is unlike others. I do this for me and I hope I can influence others somehow or way.
There is no secret or magic pill for this to work. For those of you who follow @thegrindathletics know the quote, “hard work, works.” This applies to life, business, and fitness. If you want something, work hard for it.
An a very special thank you to @southernbarbellcrew. For EVERYTHING you do in life for me! 😉
Just my thoughts.
A year ago I became a @beachbody coach. I took a step into the unknown and I decided to give it a shot. Over the past year I’ve become so much stronger, but not just physically, but mentally too.
The thing is, I want to be able to help people and show them that they can do what I do and be the healthiest versions of themselves. I put myself out there daily to prove that every day isn’t always easy.
I have had my share of negative comments toward me in this journey... as of today though, I’ve decided that I don’t care anymore what others think... I care that I’m taking care of myself for me... for Amelia, and for my future.
If you are ready to do the same, I promise to be your biggest cheerleader and help you get out of your own head... trust me, not much good goes on there anyway.
Don’t wait for the perfect time, it will never happen. Now is the right time...
Send me a message or comment below and I will reach out to you. I just created my own hybrid calendar of my 2 favorite programs and adding in my running... we will find what works for you!
🤷🏻♀️IDK why I look so tan here. But I’ll take it!
S/o today to caffeine and to my mom.
I really couldn’t live without either.
Let’s talk about the benefits of caffeine!
• it’s a stimulant so it helps perk you up and awaken your brain by stimulating your Central Nervous System
• it can help jumpstart your, um, 💩 for regular function!
• it can give you a preworkout boost to hit higher intensities during your workout
• it is a grounding ritual for most adults to start their day!
Sharing a cup of coffee (with creamer!! ALWAYS! Life is too short for hot bean water 🤣) and conversation with my mom when we are together is one of our favorite times. It always feels like the calm before the storm, where we can share, plan, hope, dream over a caffeinated cup of communion.
But do you NEED it?
Of course not! But caffeine can become addictive, so monitoring your intake is wise, especially if you have a heart condition or are prone to anxiety. Caffeine can elevate anxious feelings. If you experience anxiety, cutting back on caffeine can have a positive effect! Even cutting the caf in half!
How many cups do you have to start your day? My number is ✌🏽! Leave some love below!
Have a bright, energized day you guys!
