I am not good at following rules even if I set the rules.  I said no cardio but I mentally needed a run.  Felt good.  All the sinus junk has passed finally. .

Our bodies are amazing and can do amazing things (if we take care of them). It's our mind that we need to spend more time on in training. .

Our mind tells us to slow down, to stop, and to quit.  Our mind will even convince us to not even try or that we can't do something. .

It would be amazing to hear the inner struggle during a race as it's going on.  It may end up with us being committed to a mental hospital. Bahahaha. .

Allergies aren’t seasonal.  That crap messes with me year round.

But I needed to get a few miles in.  So I took off with @southernbarbellcrew and I just kept running. 
Working through the struggles of breathing and a headwind, it still got done. 
Even running on heavy legs from yesterday’s leg day with @redmanmat I was able to keep my mileage in check. 
Now for the rest of our Sunday!

Call me old fashioned but I prefer strict pullups.  Stop at the bottom.  No momentum to get back up.  No kipping either.  I know you can do more with that but this will build more muscle. .

Doing a burnout after my back workout this morning.  10 strict pullups eveey two minutes until I cant make it. .

How often do you add pullups in?
If you can't do them, do you want to?
Do modifications to build the strength!!

Loading up my weightlifting program online and going to bashed shoulders/arms this morning. .

Having options is key for my fitness sanity.  I get bored easily with doing the same things. Boredom leads to slacking.  Slacking isn't allowed. .  I also love being able to follow a specific weightlifting program and not have think about what exercise to do and how many reps.  No thinking involved.  Just preworkout,  loud music, and lift!! .

How do you deal with fitness boredom?  Do you keep options around?  What's your go to favorite type?

After several years, I’m finally using the β€œhome gym” we have in the basement. πŸ‹οΈβ€β™€οΈ I started #LIIFT4 this week as a way to work on my strength before my next running training season, and while I have been struggling to start each workout (motivating myself to lift at home is really hard😣) I always feel better when it’s over. Maybe I’ll actually finish a #beachbody workout program all the way through this time 🀣🀣 .
But seriously... last one I attempted was #Insanity and I would make it to week 6 or 7 before stopping because 90 minutes of Shaun T was too much πŸ˜‚

Maybe I’ll actually finish a #beachbody  workout program all the way through this time 🀣🀣 . But seriously... last one I attempted was #Insanity  and I would make it to week 6 or 7 before stopping because 90 minutes of Shaun T was too much πŸ˜‚ . #strengthtraining  #runnerwholifts  #crosstraining  #fitnessjourney  #runningoffseason  #coloradorunner  #weightlossjourney 
I decided to give my Speed Workout a shot this morning.  Got about half done.  Just dont feel 100% with cardio because of this sinus stuff. .

I feel it will be better for me to lift until I get this kicked. .

I'm shutting down all cardio for the next week.  I want to be 100% for 11/19.  That's when you and I are starting our next training program :) .  That is if you'll let me help you. .

My goal is to come out in the spring much faster than I went into the winter.

I guess I should ask if you even do any recovery methods at all???? You should.  You'll feel so much better. I promise. .

This little lacrosse ball is my favorite arch enemy.  I use it for my legs, my butt, my feet, and my back.  It gets right into the needed point that a foam roller doesn't. .

I've slacked this week with everything because of sinus issues but taking some time tonight to roll and recover.  Hoping to get back at it tomorrow. .

Operation Add Speed and Add Muscle starts in 12 Days.  Going back to my proven system. Works everytime for me.

10 months ago I made a promise to myself that I was done starting over.  I was done giving up on myself. Over the years, I had taken a slew of β€œbefore” pictures with gumption, thinking β€œthis is freaking IT” but fading out after two weeks of effort. The Bikini Series, 31 day challenge, new year challenge, Insanity,7 day slimdown - you name it, I started it. And that was my problem, I was GREAT at starting over. β€œOh it’s fine, I’ve already screwed up this round, I’ll just start over again next time.β€πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ I had low expectations for finishing something when shit got hard bc I knew starting over was always an option. It was a crutch for when I was lazy and full of excuses. And you know what happened? NOTHING. Nothing ever changed. Not until I promised myself to push past the excuse barriers and  recruit the help of one-on-one accountability.

Here we are 10 months later, and I gotta say....it feels pretty damn good to not give up on yourself. .

That’s how I feel now personally. I’ve been struggling with a foot injury the last 8 weeks and turning it over to an amazing physical therapist and acupuncturist has given me hope and confidence.

There is something so important about feeling β€œtaken care of”!

* It’s tough to ask for help sometimes. But I think reframing it to β€œI’m cultivating my tribe, my panel of experts.” is such an empowering way to think about it. Just like an Olympic athlete. They are the best of the best, because they assembled a team, because it takes a village to be great.

When I’m training on my own my trick is to write down exactly what I’m going to do before I go into my garageGym. I’m not one to give up, so if it’s written down it’s got to be done πŸ€ͺ.
Today was hard so I had to brake the 10 sets down. Did first one to check good with the selected weights & de-layer! Then did 5 sets, 2 min rest, followed by final 4 sets. Total 600 reps 😎

Putting in some work last night at @pcsportsperformance.

Everyone has a story or journey about fitness or a lifestyle change.  So here is mine:

About 15 or 16 years ago, I was working for a small beach town. I was in my young 20s and ate like I was a teenager.  During this time, I was over 200 pounds. I know some of you think that is not a lot but it was 200 pounds of crappy eating and not working out.  I was challenged or a bet was made that I could not run a half marathon.  Not being a person who backs down from a challenge, I accepted and began my journey. 
The first time that I went out and ran, I was only able to go for five minutes.  Exhausted and winded, I knew that I needed to make a change.  That is when I put my head down and began to work.  I ran the weight off!  5K, 10K, half marathons.  Eventually taking the next step to marathons.  Then finding trail running and ultra distance races which is all I do now.  This is a story for another time.

Now over the past three years finding a balance with adding muscle but maintaining speed.  This is my journey.  It is unlike others.  I do this for me and I hope I can influence others somehow or way. 
There is no secret or magic pill for this to work.  For those of you who follow @thegrindathletics know the quote, β€œhard work, works.” This applies to life, business, and fitness.  If you want something, work hard for it.

I was so happily interrupted by Jackson this morning during my lifting session.  He kept trying to turn the SelectTechs to all the numbers.

He was so proud of himself when he got them to the highest number which is 90lbs each.  He said there is no way that anybody can pick up all the weight.  Step aside little man.  Let the old man will prove you wrong as I stick my tongue out at him for good measure.  Hahahahaha. .

I am going to make it as hard as possibly for my two boys to keep up with me as I age.  That goes for running or lifting weights. 
I have a headstart but they will get older as they are only 9 and 5 right now.

I'm not even talking about the physical workout but the motivation and inspiration that was spewed during the time. .

I love when you're trainer leaves you inspired and wanting more. 
Week 1 is down. 
Week 2 starts Monday. .

When do you start?  The answer better be NOW.  We didn't get younger overnight. .

I had to break in my new shirt from @theliftbx and take advantage of some good lighting by killing shoulders.  Even threw down a few miles on the dreadmill!

Of course not! But caffeine can become addictive, so monitoring your intake is wise, especially if you have a heart condition or are prone to anxiety. Caffeine can elevate anxious feelings. If you experience anxiety, cutting back on caffeine can have a positive effect! Even cutting the caf in half!

I cannot believe that this man on the screen came up with this.  He's insane but I love it. .

1st time doing the Speed Timed workout.  Its designed to push you and you count your reps.  Next week you try to beat it.  Tomorrow we do the Timed Strength workout and I'm scared and excited. .

You are missing out if you're not using this fitness streaming service.  It's like Netflix but for your health!  Oh and cheaper than Netflix.
