Tips for Persevering
1️⃣Clarify your goal. 🎯 Base it on your purpose, needs, and abilities. Know why you want this goal and how you and others will benefit.
2️⃣Intend to achieve your goal. Outline your goal, strategies, and timeline. Know resources that can help you attain it, including individuals and the Internet. Break the goal into small steps, working backward form your desired outcome and attainment date. 🏃♂️
3️⃣Maintain optimism. Expect good things. Keep a daily diary of good experiences. 🌞
4️⃣Live in the present. Don’t dwell on the past or worry about what might happen. Let go of attachments. The more attached you are to something, the greater the fear of losing it.🔛
5️⃣Acknowledge your accomplishments. Judge these against personal standards of self improvements. : ❗️Persist. Focus on goals daily. ❗️
Throwback to when I ran a marathon in 2015 to get a Mickey Mouse medal. 🐭🙈🏅Anyone signed up for 2019 Marathon weekend? I’ll be out there in the 10K! I’ll be posting about my running experience in my blog soon!
“ With man this is impossible. With God, ALL things are possible.”
Celebration of running 5k! I literally signed up for this race 48hrs ago. Depression got the best of me the past couple weeks, but I overcame! Today, I showed up and did what I do best, compete with all my heart 💙I’m not the fastest, but I sure will put up a fight and a fight it was. Finished 3rd place overall in 16:53 that is a 4sec PR I believe 🤔 The heat/humidity was🔥💦a few hills to keep things interesting, tough competition, but I showed up ready for it all. Check out my splits in my story ➡️ Thank you Lord and to the very few people in my life that believe in me, this one was for you 🙏🏼 #phil413#fueledbyfaith#runner#trackshackorlando#runnersofinstagram#nikerunning#christianathlete
The views on the way down 😍
It felt like we were on a different planet (possibly the moon) looking down at earth 🌍 at one point it was very cloudy and we could only make out the areas the sun was hitting 🌞 beautiful 💞
PR bit the dust!!! I'm slowly processing my race...I'm reviewing back through each mile - savoring the strong moments and learning from the weak moments. This has been an amazing year of training and racing y'all 💙 there are so very many people to thank along the way. Each of you have helped me to get where I am, and each of you will continue to help me strive for more. Going to savor today then buckle right back down tomorrow; there is more on the horizon. Thank you Lord for the gifts and blessings you have bestowed!
My husband and children are some of my biggest cheerleaders and motivators ❤ My husband never questions my crazy training runs and always listens to my rants of the good and the bad, even if he doesn't understand it, he listens patiently and humors me 😉 I love that they are so proud of me and support my crazy train!
I cannot thank @hawaiirunninglab enough for their support and encouragement. Michael, your guidance and faith in me has been instrumental in reaching my goals. Let's keep this flow!
All my SW Ohana, y'all are the sunshine in my day and the spring in my step. Each of you, whether it be virtually or in person, have helped shape me and push me to be better! I'm SO PROUD of each of you out there everyday, and even more so today!
My Hawaii Running Ohana, y'all are so special to me! Whether it's on the trails, on the track, or on the road, your joy of this journey lightens my heart and keeps this smile strong!
My IG Ohana, y'all bring a strong support and motivate game. Motherrunners, triathletes, fellow Skratchlabbers, and everyone else in between, you guys fantastic and appreciated! Keep pushing and keep moving y'all - we can do this. .......
All that being said....here's today's facts n figures
Hickam Half Marathon (Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam Half Marathon)

- 13th overall finisher
At the top of Skiddaw trying to get shelter from the wind 🌬 I have never felt wind like that before....at one point I couldn't move because everytime I lifted a leg the wind took it 🙈
It's been a great day and the weather improved as we made our way back down ⛰ very happy to be out of the wind now 👌
Rest day = juice cocktail and a nice evening stroll ☀️ At first, I wanted to go for a regular cocktail in a bar because it’s Friday, etc but then I realized I would enjoy juice cocktail even more! Cozy walk in the evening was also more enjoyable than sitting in the bar surrounded by smoking people 😬
FYI I don’t smoke and almost never drink alcohol. It just doesn’t seem a good fit with sports and I do not like the taste 😂 But don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against people who do. It’s just a reminder that there are healthier choices 😁 .

Today I set out on my run and I knew I wanted to adventure. I headed to Bear Creek Lake Park and just ran around quickly realizing that paying attention to pace was going to not benefit me today. I just explored and just enjoyed the run. It felt so good and the 16.5 miles flew by. It was just what the body and soul needed this morning! #runchat#bibchat#run
Needing a new challenge, I’ve decided to run a half marathon 🏃🏽♂️ I’ll be running the London Landmarks Half Marathon on the 24th of March 2019 and have been offered a place representing Bowel and Cancer Research 👟 I’ll be using this Instagram to document my training and connect with others training for similar events #llhm#londonlandmarkshalfmarathon#mattshalfmarathon
