Confession time. Yesterday, I had my very first DNS (did not start.) I had a half marathon on my schedule, however, when my alarm went off I just felt awful, dreading the race and the thought of running. So, instead of forcing my body into something it clearly didn’t want to do, I skipped the race . Sound odd? Sure. Did I train extremely hard the last few months to PR? Yes. Do I regret not going? Not at all! Running to me is not about setting PRs and earning as many medals as possible. Running to me is about truly enjoying the sport and having fun on my runs. My feelings toward running when I woke up were not positive and, had I forced myself to go, it probably would have damaged my relationship with running. I do feel like I was in shape to PR, but my mindset yesterday morning wouldn’t have let it happen. Thankfully, this was a race I happened to get for free (which honestly helped). I did go out and run a 3 mile run tonight and I am happy to say I truly enjoyed every minute of it. Sometimes it’s important to take a step back and take the pressure off of yourself to run your best day in and day out, and that’s exactly what I did yesterday. I want more pictures like the one above, happy and strong rather than painful and miserable. I want quality over quantity and that’s exactly the attitude I’m going to go into CIM training with in just a couple short months.
Booty on fire! Was able to bump up to 20 pound weights in the first round. And with the blue + yellow bands. WHAT?!!!! My forearms were burnt by the end of it so I dropped to 15 in the 2nd round and back up to 17.5 in the 3rd. My arthritis was flaring up due to the rain so I wasn’t expecting to bump at all. Surprise surprise 😬

#windlevalleyrunners track session, first ever 3000m time trial, tired legs after yesterday’s 10k race but good to try something different. Looking forward to trying again to bring that time down on fresh legs.

Running hungry legs tonight, and what a beautiful night we’re given! I ran a 10k round which is one of my favourite. It goes in a park, in the woods, past nice summer houses, along the water, on a street called “running path”, past boat harbours, on the streets etc. I love the variation! And yes, I’m very home-in-love 😍🇸🇪 Next run will be in Marbella though, not so bad either 😎✌️🇪🇸
“Just. Keep. Swimming.” (er, running 🏃🏼♀️)
H A P P Y #MedalMonday !!✨✨REAL TALK. Saturday was not my day🤣. We all have moments or races or days that make us doubt ourselves or make us feel vulnerable. •••
👉🏻I signed up for a half marathon on Friday (the night before the race) and then proceeded to go out for drinks afterwards (for the love of @kevinhart4real )🤦🏼♀️. There were a dozen reasons & excuses going through my head the next morning about why I shouldn’t go, or why I wanted to quit mid-race. I ran my slowest half marathon in years, but all I kept thinking to myself was “Finish what you started, JUST KEEP MOVING.”
Push through those vulnerable moments, you’ll come out stronger on the other side!!⚡️👊🏻 👊🏻 #runviews#betterforit#raceeverymonth
If you’re looking to build strength through resistance running, don’t worry about finding sleds or parachutes or weigh packs. Just go find a hilly route for continual running or do some hill repeats. I’ll post a hill workout soon! Until then, if you have any questions, DM me!
Some runs aren’t glamorous and whether they show up on strava or not, it doesn’t really matter. The scenery is not always mountains or fabulous forests. What matters is you showed up and you got it done. #runtoinspire#runningcommunity
