(#sponsored ) I’m not lying when I say that the @rollgahealth foam roller is THE BEST roller I have ever used. It’s definitely getting some use this week in prep for my race Saturday! It’s like I don’t even have to try when rolling, it just does all the good dirty work on its own. Can’t top that when you’re beat after a workout and just need to zone out and get those muscles rolled out nice and good.
I made it home this morning just before the rain started - that's a skill, right? I am definitely getting to the "wow I'm tired" part of my training cycle (or maybe it's just PMS??) so my motivation was very low this morning and if I had had to go out in the rain I'm not sure I would have made it.

hi, I ran that! sub 9 minute miles, waddupppp (two of them. with four bixby/stoplight breaks. but still.)
so I've kind of been realizing for a while that a sub-2 half is not in the cards this year barring some sort of miracle/tailwind combo. which is okay! a 15-minute half PR would be kind of insane, especially since my paces have improved some but not drastically (but I DID just have that 5-minute 10k PR (sshhhh)). anyway. I've been struggling to balance full time school with full time work with half marathon training. and I'm obviously not cutting running out, but I don't want to beat myself up if I take more than one rest day per week or I don't hit paces that are really challenging for me or I cut a 5-mile run down to 2 miles. I do this for the mental health benefits first, the physical benefits second, and the cool factor third (that one might honestly be second. being A Runner makes me feel reeeeally cool). and if I'm frustrated with myself, I'm not benefiting mentally. right? right. so let's be nice to ourselves. and celebrate when we surprise ourselves. and pet our weirdo dogs. and get some sleep. the end.
Race bib Tuesday! 🙌
I’m all ready for @melbmara and excited to be an official event pacer for the half marathon. This year I will be wearing the 2hr flag and believe me you won’t miss us!
Who else is running the half marathon and what is your goal for race day?
Legs are tired.
Scratch that — legs are dead.
27 miles over the weekend and I came into this workout not expecting anything special. But I hit my paces and while it never felt comfortable, I’m pretty darn happy that ever with dead legs I can still pull off this workout.
1.5 miles up
3x 2 miles @ 10k pace w/ 800 meter recovery
1.5 miles down
10 miles total + lower body strength
🎶”Ain't nothin' gonna break-a my stride
Nobody gonna slow me down, oh no
I got to keep on moving
Ain't nothin' gonna break-a my stride
I'm running and I won't touch ground
Oh no, I got to keep on moving” 🎶
PLEASE tell me you remember this song?! 🤣 I added it to my running playlist back in 2017 before my 1st attempt at qualifying for the Boston Marathon at Mountains2Beach. Such an odd song for a running playlist, but every time I hear it now I get the biggest smile on my face because I remember this song coming on around mile 25 of that marathon & knowing that I was going to beat my goal time. I remember that feeling like it was yesterday. I was in pain, but overjoyed with emotion & holding back big ugly cry sobs as I ran into the finisher shoot. I miss that feeling. I can’t wait to feel it again in January! I’m going BIG for a 3:30 marathon! #goals#dreambig#chasingprs#halfmarathontraining#halfmarathontraining#runhappyraceface

4 x 2.5km on cumulative fatigued legs.
Ouch. Yeah. It wasn't easy, but knowing it is rest day tomorrow I left nothing in the tank. I went HARD!
Thankful for this guy and the fun weekend we had! This past year has been the most challenging year ever for us. But to look back at the past twelve months (literally to the day!) I am in awe at all that has happened but also that we made it THRIVING during such an intense time. They say that tough times can make or break your relationship. I’m proud AF to say it strengthened us in ways I would have never imagined when we were newlyweds. Each tough day I know I can turn to this man and say “Today is hard for me babe” and he will without a complaint pick up my slack.
If you have a significant other who is amazing, never forget to tell them! Don’t ever hesitate to remind them how much better they make your life. Tell them daily you’re proud of them. Hugs are their own language. I love my big gorilla husband hugs!❤️ Marriage is amazing! I love knowing we’re both working towards a similar goal, it’s empowering. I also love knowing he can carry my slack and I can bake cookies as a thank you —- it’s the best balance ever!
#medalmonday Mixed bag at yesterday’s 10K. Yay: 2nd woman overall and 1st in AG. Boo: No PR , and I was in 1st place for 3-plus miles... when I missed a turn on the course. I KNOW. AGAIN. See below for the race summary.
I signed up for this race just a week ago, and I viewed it as a “Let’s see where we are” race. I didn’t think I was in PR shape because 1) I hadn’t raced this distance in over a year, and 2) since I stopped working with Trainer a year ago, I had slowed down about 15-20 seconds per mile (and suffered my worst injury). I ran a 54:24 officially (8:34 pace accounting for the extra distance ha), and that is significantly slower than my last 10k. A couple things: One, I ran a bad race and went out too fast and crashed really hard the last half. Two, I am faster than this time reflects. You guys, I ran a 10-mile training run at a faster pace than this a week ago!
Anyway, I got some good information today about where I am and what I need to improve. I have a lot of work to do to get back into the shape I was in last year, but now that I’m back working with Trainer, I am confident I will be back in PR shape again. And of course, despite a disappointing time, it’s not lost on me that it’s a little crazy to be 51 and still running pretty well.
A huge thanks to Paul Pratt @2ndwindperformance for the past few weeks of training. Feeling determined...back to work Tuesday 6:00 am. Lets get it. 🏃🏾♀️🌱#run#vegan#10K#masterstrack#beatyesterday#igrunners#runhappy
