I was really looking forward to going. I enjoyed it while I was out. My phone died the last 1/4 mile so my pace felt wonky w/out music. Overall I’m happy & I think that’s what matters most. A shower & a smile! 🚿 😁

Sim nesse último Ironman tivemos a oportunidade de presenciar cenas lindas, gestos de companheirismo, recordes mundiais quebrados, "sonhos possíveis"

O Ironman reserva histórias especiais e que não são fáceis de acreditar, assim como o caso de Marcus Cook, o homem que pesava 220 kg e, três anos depois, completou o Mundial de Ironman. Existem casos de atletas foras de série, como é o caso de "Patrick Lange e Daniela Ryf", que completaram a prova e quebraram o recorde de maneira impressionante. Mas a história em questão é a do japonês de 85 anos, Hiromu Inada, a pessoa mais velha a concluir  uma prova da franquia.
Hiromu, no auge de seus 85 anos e 11 meses, completou os 3,8 km de natação em 1h51min26s, 180 km de bike em 8h02min40s, e a maratona de 42 km em 6h28min18s. Um tempo total de 16h53min50s, pouco mais de 6 minutos abaixo do tempo limite (17 horas) para completar a prova.
O japonês, sem dúvidas, foi coroado como campeão mundial em sua categoria (85 até 89 anos), já que era o único participante. No ano de 2016, Hiromu Inada competiu na categoria de 80 até 84 anos, com 16h49min13s. Um exemplo de superação e longevidade do homem que terminou a corrida mais exaustiva do mundo com um sorriso no rosto.
Hiromu Inada já detinha o recorde de pessoa mais velha a completar o Ironman, feito que até 2016 pertencia ao americano Lew Hollander, que fez o Mundial de Kona aos 82 anos. .

I'm running as part of a team named The Dapper Dans, which is named after a dear friend's dad who had passed away from lung cancer. #latergram yesterday running on the boring treadmill.... OMG so lucky we are in 2018 and can listen to books🙏 I had to train... No matter what, despite of my shitty health condition. New meds, new treatment, another appointment tomorrow morning, I hope I will soon get my 💯 % of my physical condition and will be able to breathe normally🙏👌🏻
Pour les curieux, rien de très grave, mais une visite chez le pneumologue s’impose. Je crains le verdict mais ça fait un petit moment que je m’y préparais, et on fera avec🤗 A part ça, j’espère que vous avez passé une bonne semaine ! Je vous souhaite un super week-end et de bonnes courses 👍🏻😘 Pour ma part, ce sera repos quelques jours vu le traitement de 🐎😆 donc peut-être un petit run ce week-end et puis c’est tout😉 Je dois me préserver car un long périple m’attend dans 3 semaines 🙈

Don’t Overdo Your Cardio
Truth be told you can get lean without doing any #cardio at all.
If we refer back to the rules of the energy balance equation, we can see that provide you’re in a calorie deficit you will lose weight regardless of whether or not you’re doing any cardio or not.
However, where cardio can be useful in 2 key ways;
•Allowing you to eat more food when in a calorie deficit
•Assisting with the loss of body fat
🔻The question now becomes which type of cardio should you do to get these benefits?
The 2 contenders are;
1•Low-intensity steady state (LISS)
2•High-intensity interval training (HIIT).
#LISS is characterised by long bouts of walking, jogging or cycling usually around an hour in length to burn calories without taxing the body. Whereas, #HIIT is characterised by short bursts of sprinting or other anaerobic activity followed by a period of rest or recovery before being repeated, usually lasting 10 – 30 minutes in total.
📌What Does The Research Say?
Ultimately, whilst HIIT wins out in the research I believe that whichever form of exercise works best for your lifestyle is the best. Maybe that’s a mix of both, maybe it’s none at all. If you can do some HIIT, great. If not then don’t worry as we said before you can get ‘lean’ without using cardio at all.
📌How Much Is Too Much?
Ultimately, what I would say is this, don’t do cardio for cardio’s sake. Do it because you enjoy it and want to get the benefits. There’s nothing worse than having to force yourself to go for a #run because you think you need to, exercise shouldn’t be associated with negative feelings. Sure, it will hurt sometimes and it should challenge you but it shouldn’t be a chore.

Why high-intensity exercises are as beneficial as longer workout sessions

Got no time for exercising? Well, a few minutes of high-intensity interval or sprinting exercise may be as effective as much longer workout sessions, as per a new study. Mitochondria, the energy centres of the cells, are essential for good health. Previous research has found that exercise creates new mitochondria and improves the function of existing ones. Altered mitochondrial function in response to a single session of exercise generates signals that may lead to beneficial changes in the cells, lowering the risk for chronic disease.
High-intensity interval exercise consists of short bursts of high-intensity aerobic exercise physical activity that raises the heart rate alternating with brief recovery periods. Whether the intensity of a workout affects mitochondrial response is unclear. The research team measured the amount of energy the volunteers spent on each workout and compared mitochondrial changes in the participants’ thigh muscles before and after each exercise session.
The researchers found that levels of hydrogen peroxide — a type of molecule involved in cell signalling called “reactive oxygen species” that contains oxygen and hydrogen — in different parts of the mitochondria change after exercise. While too much reactive oxygen species can be damaging to the cells, the researchers noted that the volunteers’ levels were an appropriate amount to potentially promote cell responses that benefit metabolic function rather than cause damage.
In addition, the research team found that fewer minutes of higher-intensity exercise produced similar mitochondrial responses compared to a longer moderate-intensity activity.
