Happy #medalmonday 🏅 My final medal of 2018 from one of my new favourite races ever, the #greatsouthrun 🙌 It was an awesome day and hopefully we'll be back again next year with an even bigger goal to smash 😉
"Every run is a tiny holiday. Always enjoy your "me" time."
Almost buried (our heads barely sticking out) in a sea of mahogany, narra, manggo and pine trees inside the trails of Cuyambay in Tanay. Great exploring these mountain paths.
Medal Monday. 🏅🏅🏅

This is not just any family. This family have been in my life for 18 years. They’re the mum, sister, brother and brother in law of @kirsty_f_a_g_a_n - and a family I have a whole heap of love and affection for. .
I’ve posted before about @nannyfishruns and all of the amazing things that she does. In the last two years alone, she’s swam the Swim Serpentine mile and she’s run the London Marathon - both of which she had to learn to swim/run for and has had to train constantly for, sometimes to the detriment of her own body. She’s raised a ton of money for various charities close to her heart and I don’t mean it lightly when I say this is one truly inspirational lady. .
Yesterday, at the Great South Run, the family ran for a number of different reasons and charities. For Angela, it was to be her last fundraising run and for her and her son, their reason was to raise funds for the Stickler Syndrome Diagnostic Clinic. This clinic has and continues to provide vital support and answers for the family who are personally affected by this condition. .
I know some of you were able to support the family when I fundraised for Evelina London in their name earlier this year - thank you. If you’re able to now, I would be eternally grateful if you could click the link in my profile to help support the Stickler Syndrome Diagnostic Clinic and the vital research they do. If you’re unable to do so, please take a look at @nannyfishrun’s profile and drop her a message of congratulations instead. She’s a legit superhero.
"...Who the fuck are you, to tell me what to do, I don't give a damn if you say you disapprove
I'm gonna make my move, I'm gonna make it soon, And I'll do it 'cause it's what I want to fucking do. 'Cause all these opinions and all these positions, They coming in millions, they're blocking your vision
But no, you can't listen, that shit is all fiction
'Cause you hold the power as long as you're driven...." 👊🎯 #neffex#fightback

Saturday’s parkrun 🏃♀️ not a PB but I was so happy with my time - almost died but got it done 🙈 goal is sub 23 by the end of summer... no idea if that’s possible but I once thought sub 25 was out of reach so it’s worth trying 😁
This is my post-run happy face. 🥈💪🏻
#ad | Today I ran in the inaugural DC Wonder Woman Run in San Jose, California. Being surrounded by so many women with amazing stories behind them was not only uplifting, it was invigorating. Their stories ranged from cancer to domestic abuse to those simply participating for someone they knew who couldn't. 🖤 No matter what, they all had one common thread, how these strong and brave women were pushing forward in their lives, determined to overcome. 💫
It never fails that I get pre-race jitters despite all of my efforts to practice regularly. I know my body is trained to do the job so I should learn to trust that it will perform. Today I set a new personal record, a 7:29 / mile pace for 5k. I also placed 13th of 1041 overall, 8th of 946 females, and 2nd of 104 in my division. 🥈 To say that I'm happy right now would be an understatement. 🔥 Running means so much to me and has brought so much joy to my life that it's hard not to get emotional after an event like this. 💪🏻
⭐️ Registration for the DC Wonder Woman Run is still open for Los Angeles and San Diego, to get 15% off, use the code HEJDOLL when you register! ✨

I wasn’t sure how far I was going to run today but #amazingalbany turned it on so gloriously that I just kept going. Gorgeous gentle breeze and my dragonfly running buddies (no snakes 🐍 today!) out in force on the way from Midds. to Emu Point but of course a roaring headwind on the way back (why never a tailwind?!?? 😂). Then a nice surprise at the end - I’ve hit the QLD border in #rundownunder so I’m heading for a Brissie now! Plus 80km run so far in October for #run4dignity - can I squeeze in another 20 in the next week to raise money for Share The Dignity to purchase sanitary products for homeless women? Fingers crossed 🤞 #runningmumsaustralia#runlikeagirl

Feeling more and more confident for NYC and possibly the most excited I have been to run a marathon! 😱
This weekend marked my first ever #runcation and my final trail race of 2018 with the @islandtrailseries #cobblehill
20km, 900m elevation and 3hr 17min later, I can now say that I have raced 107.65 km this year. My 100km goal is complete! (That extra 7.65km is mostly thanks to @garyrobbins, @coastmtntrail and grizzly bears at #wam1215 )
The colours were BEAUTIFUL and leaves covered the trails (interesting development as they impacted my ability to 'read' the trail 😶)
Easily, the hardest race I've done. Side note: having a chest cold for the week prior was NOT good race prep and *may* have impacted this.
Additionally, my puffer decided to fail. 😒
8km in, I thought, "maybe I should duck out at the junction and do the short course? But... Then I'll have to find another race for this goal! 🙄 No, Nicole, you know you can do this. You've done longer, in both time and distance... You're ok... Well, no, you're not, but, it's your brain, not your body, you CAN do this." (Yes, most of that was aloud as I was by myself in the trails for minimum 10km)
17km another racer came up behind me. Then we caught up to another racer. (You're almost done Nicole, just keep swimming) 19km, I caught up to my rabbit and left every single thing I had left on that trail. .
I finished! #thankjebus Then, I ate ALL the watermelon and took myself to @damalilavender winery down the street to avoid the inevitable muscle seizing on the car ride back to Nanaimo. I had an impromptu wine tasting and walked their #labyrinth to unwind 😎🍷
HUGE thanks to everyone who sent me well wishes and kind words on race morning! And @doglessfir for leaving me coffee and oatmeal at 7am, & @jjarrett22 for asking me, "do you want to have a bath?" the second I walked in the door after the race. 😍 & @a_and_w_ for restocking the #beyondmeatburger in Duncan, BC so I could #eatmyfeelings on the drive home. 🍔♥️
2018 done, 2019... Come at me, bro! 💪

Before making goals for the new week don’t forget to celebrate your win(s) from the last week.
My founder is celebrating a great race @venturamarathon #VenturaMarathon and can’t wait to show off some bling for #MedalMonday 💁♀️ Share your win(s) large or small, running or biking, weight loss or #NSV so we can 🎉celebrate with you:
Monkey see🐒. Monkey do🐒. She's always watching me (my daughter with the pink sweater on). She's my inspiration. One day she will realize, as much as she cheers me on in races and events, I will always be the one cheering louder for her. I will always believe in her and I will always, always, always be beside her.
It was all fun and games (and relatively cool, mid-70s!) until ~mile 5 when the clouds burned off, the sun came out, and my pace tanked - I think I somehow ended up with heat exhaustion, which hasn't happened in months. It sounds incredibly cliche but I feel like I'm learning a lot more about myself from these 'failures' than I did when everything was going smoothly. It's not an excuse (I'm...pissed, to put it mildly, about how the last few months of training have gone) but it's important to recognize and analyse the WHY so I can address it. Honestly I feel like I've been in #marathontraining mode for a year now, and I'm ready for something else - maybe to focus on a shorter distance and go for speed! #sundayrunday
I’ll be FBLive on www.facebook.com/drrajatchauhan with super giggly runner Daatkar Sangeeta Saikia at 1 pm later today talking about the role of smiling in life and running.

Life has its ups and downs and the same thing applies to running as well. tinyurl.com/yct672pa
Ever since I started running competitively (which was yesterday) I’ve been wondering how running several miles once a week would effect my performance as a very bold climber. But I’ve never felt more confident grabbing quickdraws than I did today while aiding a hard 5.10 at Cochise, so I’m happy to report that running only helps the extreme #bigwall#tradisrad#extremesports
Hit the road running right after work just in time to catch the sunset. There's plenty to wax on sunsets (both literally and metaphorically) on a day like this, instead, I'd rather mention I saw some dude on an electric scooter wearing a Milwaukee Brewers shirt and I yelled, "OH SO SORRY, GO DODGERS!!!" at her. She had it coming - electric scooters are illegal on the strand, after all.
I also need to remember when I'm not wearing reflective sunglasses like I've been used to...now you can tell I'm that guy that's mad staring at you when you're doing something dumb. Kiiinda rude.
Yesterday was a challenge but it only made me more motivated to grab my run shoes and get after it this morning. 4 miles easy then felt good enough to add a couple miles of tempo just to prove to myself I could 💕🏃🏼♀️ #justkeeprunning
With average temps around 80F and max temp at 91F I was very thankful for some nice cool water to rinse my face and get my hat wet in an effort to sort of get my temp down a bit.. I am sooo ready for some cooler fall running temps ☀️🏃🏼♀️ #overheating#longrun
