Report card for 10km @1.03.36 (actual just 9.5km). Probably just a shave of PB for 10km as well.
Position 12, just nice to make it printed on the list. Gap was about 4mins to podium listing, that's about 800m. Well time to buck up training.
Lethargic hits earlier than expected.
Consolation from this run, my knees were actually ok throughout the run.
Congratulations to friends who made podium!
Today was one of those days that I didn’t set any expectations with time or distance. It was bitter cold 17 degrees for most of the day & I had a long list of projects lined up...so it was easier to say naw I won’t be running but mid day I realized that wasn’t a decision I was happy with. I took a break from painting and slipped on my “winter gear” and off I went. Slow, easy, no distance or time goals just easy and by feel. Putting myself mentally in a place to get comfortable for several windy cold miles. Soon it was 5...then 7...then rounding out to home. Almost 8 miles in. I could t be happier with my mental toughness bearing down when the weather was so crappy. So much for MN Fall. I gave myself pep talks about all the things that could have detoured me from running. The wind. The cold. My sore body. The long list of projects. The dead garmin. The dead earbuds. Oh and my phone dying mid run. But I didn’t. Why? Because you can never predict race day factors and you have to push through to the finish line. It was a great test to run by feel and not let any of those factors overcome the joy of running. It’s not always easy but it’s those that push through that reap the rewards! (I was so numb I couldn’t even get a photo so this one is from a summer trail run that was a favorite).Dreaming of warmer days already. #running#runlikeagirl#runningmom#momrunner#marathontraining#beeoutside#hshive#nuunlife#honeystinger#strongwomen#justbestrong#training#zensah#withoutlimitz#saturdaylongrun#mn#fall#borntorun#runinrabbit#picklesandleather
When @vwvw86 says “Run Faster”..
@ellen.w87 has got me feeling fast again! I’ve been taking quantity over speed since UTA as pushing the pace pushed me out of my comfort zone. I’d had lost serious faith in dropping the pace again but since working with Ellen I’ve started getting faster week in week. This is me maxing out at 2:33mins/km. Sure it’s only for a second in a 15 second sprint but if that’s only 6 weeks in then #BRINGIT

Super jealous of everyone running the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Half or Full tomorrow. I follow so many people on Instagram that are doing this race tomorrow! I’ve only done the half twice (my first and second half!). Not sure I’ll ever do this race again because the Hamilton Marathon is right around the corner, and Hamilton seems less daunting to get to than Toronto. But as I see all these posts today I wish I were! Have taken lots of rest days this week as I have a tight hammy. Got my husband to massage it today which helped tremendously so hoping to attempt a run tomorrow. 2 weeks until @hamiltonmarathon and I’m getting excited!!! #runnersofinstagram#momswhorun#runlikeagirl#flashback#halfmarathon#marathontraining#canadianrunner#leecarsontherunner
#FlatRunner ready for tomorrow’s #temeculahalf 👏🏼👏🏼 Me on the other hand, not so ready 🤷🏽♀️ I am nervous to have this race be my first long run since moving away from San Francisco, but I’m excited to run through Temecula because that means one of my favorite wineries is just on the other end of the finish line 🍷
Celebrate your personal victories because no one else understands what it took to accomplish them ~
Solo LSD...great weather tapi cuma ini yg termampu...
Dapat new route, tp kena plan hydration strategy
Improved pace, improved timing by 5 mins
Mileage bulan ni ke Lautan Hindi jauhnya...dgn stress level at work gone thru the roof, tawakkal jek la...
Semoga dipermudahkan 😐

Sh** gets real 😰
Today Autumn wanted to join me on my run around the neighborhood...until the ice cream man came. While all the kids on our street ate ice cream and played kickball, I ran circles around them. When I was done she was none too happy with me!! (See second pic lol) So, being the good mother that I am, I strapped her into the stroller and ran another few (unaccounted for) laps while she exclaimed “faster mommy!!” Yes dear! Anything for my sweet Autumn Marie! 💕
This has been one of my favourite quotes for a long time. It always reminds me that Life is meant to be Lived and Loved. When we aren’t enjoying what we are doing what kind of life are we actually living?
Today this quote popped up in an email newsletter I subscribe to from @msrachelhollis and it couldn’t have come at a better time.
Sometimes I feel like I’m going through the motions in life and I start craving the ability to feel anything fully not just flickers. These moments in the mountains that’s when the flickers become flames and finally I feel something. I feel alive. 📷 @tcup_half_full
"It's very hard at the beginning to understand that the whole idea is not to beat the other runners. Eventually, you learn that the competition is against the little voice inside you that wants you to quit."
Yesterday we moved and you better believe that @fitlife0421 and I made gym set-up in the new house top priority 😂 #sorrynotsorry Our old house’s gym was in a sunroom with lots of windows but I think this basement gym will do just fine!
A FAB Colorado Saturday taking @a_cometa to all our must-see greater Boulder stops.
✅ Breakfast at Snooze (literally ANY location 👍)
✅ Hiking at Chautauqua Park
✅ A free tasting at our fave Front Range winery (Bookcliff Vineyards, if you're looking for great CO wine!)
✅ A couple flights from some local craft breweries of course (went with Upslope and Twisted Pine for our pick-of-the-region today)
✅ And a sheltered, but successful, first meeting with our guard dog Bruschi. Bru was particularly excited to be reunited with Daddy after our guest left, but WE loved every second hosting our east coast buddy! Any friends from New Englad down for a schedule like this? We were MADE for quality time in our new digs with old friends. Book your trips to see us NOW! 😁
Excited to be heading back to run the Black Hills 50 Miler again in June! This year will finally be the year @crunchyrunner and I finish the adventure together. The bucket list item we talked about a cold snowy long run Saturday 2 years ago....
What you are capable of is not always what happens on race day! Around 8km I knew it wasn’t going to happen for me today, despite following the plan. A cold cup of water from a station and a severely rank smell from the countryside (maybe a butchers house, who knows?) had me throw up water and left me rattled and cramped from stopping. So I decided to use this as a training run and settled into marathon training pace because I totally bought a bib for Naha marathon in 6 more weeks 😂😳🤷🏽♀️ I comfortably rolled in at a 1:53:40 and feel completely fine now that I’m getting some electrolytes- but a far cry from a personal best. Walking back to the hotel and talking to Nathan I told him I’m about 1 for 3 when it comes to races lining up for me as far as execution and PRs- and for me that’s just a testament to long distance running, or any running in general. You never know what’s going to happen race day and you just have to be smart and roll with the punches. So for now, relaxing, eating, and soon settling back into training for a full on December 2!! #runlikeagirl#iliverunlift#halfmarathon#marathontraining#dontdrinkthewater#luangprabangrunforchildren#charityrace
Another run just for the fun of it and another race against Mother Nature. Luckily, I made the correct choice to run BEFORE grocery shopping, instead of the other way around, because it was raining when I came out of the store. Whew! I decided to run for duration today instead of distance. Of course, I still "had to" stop on a nice, round number (Yeah, I'm a little "Type A"...I'm working on it. 🙄) 😁
In the midst of a tough workout, I like to practice 2 things:
1️⃣. Positive self talk - after every mile that I hit my goal, I tell myself, “good job” or “you rocked that mile”. It’s amazing what a positive mentality will do 🙌🏽
2️⃣. I remind myself of my goals. Why are you putting yourself through this? When you’re tired and it’s at the end of a hard workout, the answer to “how bad do you want it” is often...”not that bad”. Is that true? Nope...but I need little reminders 😅. just that little reminder of “3:05, 3:05, 3:05” is enough to help me pick it up for one more mile after another.
My mantra this cycle is, “stay in it”. It hurts, yes...but it’s soooo worth it!!!
3x3 miles, first set 6:50-6:55, second set 6:55-7:00, third set 7:00-7:05. Splits are in my story 🙌🏽
