Traveling Wilburys - Vol 1
The Traveling Wilburys is the most impressive superband ever created. On Vol 1 you have George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty and Bob Dylan playing and writing together and they are a great match. George just finished Cloud Nine (other gem) with Jeff Lynne as producer and together they picked and convinced the other members. There are some wild stories about how this process went, but it was clear that they where avid fans of Dylan and Orbison ( one of the best writers vs amazing singer) and where looking for a reason to play and record with them.
This record was created over a 10 day timespan in between Dylan’s touring dates. All members had input in the songwriting and its nice to hear their styles come together. Most tracks focus on one or two main singers while the rest does backing vocals or the bridge.
The record starts with a song written by Harrison as a b-side for one of his singles, but Handle with Care was deemed to good to be on a b-side. With Orbison on co-vocals this became their first hit. Side A ends with petty’s Last night and Orbison’s Not alone Anymore which are both beautiful in their own right.
On side B dylan takes over with Congratulations and Tweeter and the Monkey man, which might be the two best songs on the album. The last song is End of the Line, which was released after Orbison sadly died. The video and the song are a nice farewell to one of the best singers the industry had ever seen.
They followed this up with vol 3, which was good, but not as incredible as this one. The raw sound of this recording and the beautiful voice of Orbison are missing on vol 3.
This album is a good example of synergy. It revived the career of Dylan and Petty and was a great trowback in between the hiphop and house of the late eighties. If you ever find a copy, be sure to take it with you!

last night - the traveling wilburys (bass cover)
wow they were a super group tbh!!! also, I've found a lot of happiness in constantly playing and making videos. I aspire to be a great bassist. yes I might not be the best and my videos aren't very high quality, but I love doing this. I really appreciate constructive criticism as well!!! thank you all for supporting me. even if I have just a little following in my chunk of the universe, it means the world to me. we all want to conquer our dreams. but you have to do it one step at a time.
