Was supposed to do 2x 6k but with the heat in my house at 92 degrees (no air conditioning) and the real feel of 102 this was what I had. Was hoping to do the first one at a 1:49.9 and then open rate to negative split but half way through I knew I still wasn't there with or without the heat. So I dropped the hammer for the second half of the piece to give me at least one solid one. I also quit drinking. Last week I attempted this and couldn't even do 3k @ a 1:52.6 in normal temps. Drinking hurts your splits. Pretty happy I was able to get it down to a 1:48 at 24 SPM. and I was 1 beat shy of my max heart rate so I know I went hard. And that's always a good feeling. Sure this was very painful physically, but the victory was in the mental battle- I really, really did not want to do that 4th rep and sure enough it sucked and I just did enough to keep going- legs pretty cooked and the high altitude was not a fun experience!
